Most adults carry demodicosis, but only some develop a disease caused by it, called demodicosis or demodicosis. It is often confused with other skin and eye conditions or with allergic reactions. What are the symptoms of demodicosis?

Dr. Mariusz Rowiński, an expert and specialist who treats demodicosis patients of the Eye Laser Eye Microsurgery Center in Warsaw, told "Poradnik Zdrowie" about the parasite and the disease it causes.

What are the symptoms of demodicosis?

Doctor Mariusz Rowiński, when asked about the symptoms of demodicosis, described them in the following words:

Demodex causes inflammation of the edges of the eyelids. It's the annoying itching we feel very often when going to bed, when the light goes out and the parasite becomes active. Itching of the edges of the eyelids, burning, evening feeling after turning off the light that something is walking on me, something hollows my skin, my eyelids, recurrent chalazions, barley, eyelid inflammation, dry eye syndrome generated by damage to the Meibomian glands, which will manifest itself in the patient with a feeling dryness, sometimes baking.

It has been found that the armor of which the Demodex is made of - and more specifically chitin - produces a reaction that causes the development of a hail or barley after the death of Demodex. Any kind of eyelid margin pathology should always be considered as potentially caused by Demodex.
