In any case, you should ensure good hydration of the mucous membranes of the throat. In the case of pharyngitis, steam inhalations with the addition of essential oils, e.g. thyme and lavender, and herbal infusions: sage and chamomile, are helpful.

You can add a few drops of glycerin, which has a moisturizing effect, to rinses for sore throats. You need to humidify the air in the rooms and drink about 2 liters of fluids a day, limiting the drying out of the mucous membranes of black tea. In the case of pharyngitis, very hot liquids, spicy foods and alcohol that irritate the mucous membranes are not recommended.

Smokers suffering from chronic pharyngitis should definitely quitsmoking. Others should avoid smoky and dusty rooms.

A sore throat - a signal of other diseases

Chronic pharyngitis should be consulted with an ENT specialist. It may indicate a decrease in immunity or damage to the mucosa. It can also be a symptom of other diseases, such as the hematopoietic and immune systems: leukemias, lymphomas, Hodgkin's disease, myeloma or AIDS.
