Impotence - what is it?

Impotenceis a sexual dysfunction in which a man does not have an erection despite his excitement, which makes intercourse impossible. Impotence is classified into three types:

  • erectile impotenceis the inability to achieve an erection,
  • orgastic impotenceis a man's inability to achieve orgasm,
  • generative impotenceis a fertility disorder.

Due to the reason, it is distinguished by:

  • psychogenic impotence- resulting from mental block,
  • organic (somatic) impotence- resulting from diseases, most often of the circulatory system.

Impotence - causes

There are many reasons for this, but the most common cause of impotence is psychological problems. Men, especially young men, experience enormous stress, thinking that they will not satisfy their partners. They are afraid of being ridiculed. They also often have multiple sexual inhibitions resulting from not very pleasant experiences with women.

The patterns and rules learned at home are also an obstacle to deriving satisfaction from sex. Mature men who are less physically fit are afraid that they will not meet their partner's expectations. Their peers usually know well what they want in contact with a man. The cause of trouble may also be exhaustion, long-term stress, overly entertaining lifestyle.

Impotenceorerectile dysfunction resulting from testosterone deficiency affects only 5-10 percent. men, usually those in the andropause period. Sexual performance is also badly affected by a high level of prolactin - a hormone that excessively worsens sexual performance. Another cause is neurological ailments related to diseases or injuries of the spine.

The most common are erectile dysfunction related to cardiovascular insufficiency, mainly atherosclerosis and arterial hypertension, and the resulting changes in blood vessels. The cause of the disorders may also be preparations used in the treatment of heart diseases and those related to mental he alth. Men with an enlarged prostate gland or suffering from frequent urinary tract infections also have problems.

Impotence - natural treatment

Potency substances have been known for thousands of years. Recently, they have attracted a lot of interest from producers and have been carefully tested. It turned out that what nature created is not always safe and must be used with caution.

  • Ginseng - contains ginsenoids that contribute to the increase in desire. The condition for success is the regular use of the preparation, which contains at least 15 percent. pure substance. With a higher dose of the extract, a rash, an increase in blood pressure and a painful tightness in the chest may appear.
  • Yohimbine - obtained from the bark of the yohimbe tree. It is believed that the preparation dilates blood vessels, stimulates the nervous system and the lower section of the spinal cord. Experts say it is especially helpful for stress-induced impotence or depression. Excess can cause insomnia, hand tremors, and even heart arrhythmia.
  • Royal jelly - stimulates sperm production and this probably increases libido and sexual interest. Allergy sufferers should avoid it or use it after consulting a doctor, because the substance is highly allergenic.
  • Japanese ginkgo (Gingko biloba) - the plant extract relaxes the arteries and thus improves the blood supply to all organs. It is recommended for men who have atherosclerosis and damaged penis blood vessels. The daily dose is 60-80 mg of the preparation. Abdominal pain and headaches may develop when overdosing on more than 200 mg per day. You must not take aspirin or any other blood thinner when taking ginkgo.
  • Potency tree (Muira puama) - the preparation intensifies desire. Side effects are unknown.
  • Pumpkin seeds - most often recommended for the treatment of prostate ailments. They contain large amounts of vital substances, especially zinc and vitamin E, which have a beneficial effect on organssexual. Apparently, the smell of the pumpkin itself can also arouse a man.

Impotence - diagnosis

Erectile dysfunction is a condition with which (as with any other) you see a doctor. If a man wants to improve his sexual performance, he should do it as soon as he notices the first signs of ailment. A visit to a specialist (an andrologist or sexologist) is not unpleasant or embarrassing, because it usually consists only of talking. But this conversation must be honest to be effective. If a man ignores some issues and ignores others, the visit will be of no use.

It is best if both of you are interested go to the doctor. Then the specialist knows the feelings of both parties and can propose the most appropriate solutions. If the doctor suspects that a disease may be the cause of the disorder, he or she orders additional tests, e.g. blood sugar, cholesterol, testosterone and prolactin levels, and an ultrasound of the prostate. If the results are normal, it's up to you.

Impotence - treatment

There are many treatments for impotence. For example, in the case of problems of neurological origin, vacuum pumps, electrotherapy, drugs stimulating the nervous system, massage are used. But these approaches do not exhaust the long list of ways to deal with the problem.

  • Psychotherapy. People with emotional erectile dysfunction (inhibitions, sexual injuries, negative influences of the family environment, neuroses) should seek the help of a psychologist. Treatment usually lasts 5-7 weeks and brings good results.
  • Drugs. They are used in hormonal impotence. For example, testosterone is administered in the case of a deficiency of this hormone or preparations lowering the level of prolactin.
  • Injections. In the case of circulatory impotence, injections into the cavernous body of the penis are most often recommended. Usually, Prostaglandin is injected, but not only - Caverject has been registered in Poland. After being instructed by the doctor, the patient injects himself, so he can have sex whenever he wants (erection takes 15-20 minutes, erection lasts for about an hour). As circulation improves, the dose of the drug is gradually reduced. The injections are not given more often than 3 times a week. And the second can only be given after 24 hours. The price of one dose is PLN 70-100.
  • Plastic cylinder. It is put on the penis so that it fits tightly to the root of the penis. The air is then drawn out of the cylinder by a small pump. The negative pressure created causes the blood to gradually fill the cavernous bodies. When an erection occurs, the man has to slide the rubber pressure ring off the cylinder all the way to the root of the penis. It will block the outflow for the duration of the approachblood. It is not advisable for an erection sustained by the pressure of the rubber ring to last longer than 20-30 minutes.
  • Surgical procedure. It is carried out when the blood vessels of the penis are damaged by atherosclerosis. Then the doctor may suggest performing the so-called by-passes. The procedure consists in taking veins (most often from the thigh) and transplanting them into the penis. Thanks to the surgery, his blood supply is improved. But when a man does not take care of himself and, for example, does not follow an anticholesterol diet, erection problems will return after some time.
  • Silicone dentures. They can be used by men who have undergone major pelvic operations and therefore have sleeping problems. Elongated, elastic pieces of silicone are placed in the cavernous bodies of the penis. Erection occurs when a man or his partner gently pulls his penis upwards. Then the endoprosthesis straightens and the erection is ready. Due to the fact that the silicone is flexible, the member can perform such movements as with a natural erection.
  • Hydraulic apparatus. Two silicone cylinders are placed in the penis, a saline reservoir is implanted just behind the pubic bone, and a tiny pump under the scrotum. When a man wants intercourse, he uses a pump to pump saline into the cylinders. An erection occurs on command. When brought closer, the s alt returns to the reservoir.
