Condoms - types
There are many types of condoms on the market, which differ in their material, shape, color, taste or additional properties, such as moisturizing, warming, etc. The most popular condom manufacturers are Durex, Unimil (Skyn).
- Latex condoms
This is the type of condom most commonly available on the market. They are made of latex, i.e. natural rubber. They are stretchy, impermeable. However, they have two major disadvantages: First, latex is relatively thick and many men complain that it reduces the sensation of intercourse. Second, some men are allergic to this raw material.
- Non-latex condoms
Men who are allergic to latex or those who want to enhance their experience can choose condoms made of synthetic AT-10 resin or polysoprene. They are thinner and more like human skin to the touch, so that intercourse feels more natural and the condom is almost imperceptible. Sometimes they are additionally moistened.
- Studded condoms
Thanks to the ribbed surface, this type of condom intensifies the sensations of both partners. They make it easier for a woman to reach orgasm. There are, for example, condoms with protrusions at the base, which stimulate the clitoris during fractional movements.
- Wet condoms
They are covered with lubricant on the outside and inside, which greatly facilitates intercourse. It can also be helpful if your partner has problems with vaginal dryness.
- Condoms prolonging intercourse
There are condoms that can help prolong intercourse - they are coated with an ejaculation-retarding substance, benzocaine, located in a reservoir at the end of the condom.
- Condoms with cooling or warming gel
They are covered with a special substance that gives the skin a warming or cooling effect. The gel provides a stronger and more interesting experience. It's a good way to spice up your sex.
- Condoms with different flavors and aromas
They usually have a fruity taste and smell, thanks to which they additionally stimulate the senses of partners. Make oral sex more enjoyable.
- Condoms of different colors and shapes
For partners who want to break with the routine and bring an element of originality to their sex, condoms in various fancy colors, e.g. gold, black, and shapes are perfect - they are available, for example, with irritating hair, deeper protrusions . There are even glow-in-the-dark condoms available.

- During intercourse, check sometimes that the condom has not come off or damaged.
- After ejaculating, hold the condom with your hand so that it does not slip off as you remove your penis from the vagina.

Condoms - price
Condom prices range from a few dozen groszy to even a dozen or so zlotys per piece. Their cost consists of many factors: manufacturer, additional properties, place where we buy.
You can buy the cheapest condoms for about 50 groszy each at online auctions, usually in larger sets. However, these are condoms from completely unknown companies, so their quality may be poor.
Condoms from reputable brands (Durex, Unimil) usually cost around PLN 3-4 per piece (depending on the size of the package). You will pay this much in the manufacturer's official online store, you can find cheaper offers at online auctions.
The prices of condoms with additional properties (e.g. prolonged intercourse, ribbed, extra-thin, moisturized etc.) are slightly higher.
Condoms - effectiveness
According to the Pearl index, the effectiveness of condoms ranges from 2 to 15, which means that as many women out of 100 respondents became pregnant as a result of regular intercourse and using this method of contraception (for comparison - in the case of contraceptive pills it is 0.2- 1.4, in the case of unsecured relations - 85).
Female condom
It has already been established that the condom is purely a male thing. It is the man who should make sure that the condom is at hand when it is needed … But in the mid-90s, female condoms were created. Such a condom is made not of latex, but of a special polyurethane foil. It has the shape of a cylinder with stiffening rings on both sides. The closed circle is placed in the vagina so that it covers the cervix, and the other, open circle extends outward. The advantage of a female condom is that you can put it on before you start foreplay. You just have to make surethat the foil adheres well to the vaginal walls (it may cause allergies).

Condoms protect against sexually transmitted diseases
Properly used condoms are not only effective contraceptives, they also reduce the risk of contracting a sexually transmitted disease.
- AIDS, or acquired immune deficiency syndrome. The most dangerous disease because there is no cure for it. Infection occurs when HIV-containing secretions or body fluids enter the body.
- Syphilis (syphilis). It has a multi-stage course, and the first symptoms appear after a long time, even six months: fever, malaise, ulceration on the genitals (painless, up to 1 cm in diameter), enlargement and pain of the lymph nodes. After a while, the ulcer disappears, which is not a sign of recovery, but the next phase of the disease. Its development may take up to several years. Syphilis is treated with antibiotics. If left untreated, it leads to serious damage to internal organs: liver, brain, which can even result in death.
- Gonorrhea (tryper). In men it manifests itself after a week with burning and purulent discharge from the urethra, in women after two weeks with vaginal discharge (therefore the infection may go unnoticed). Untreated gonorrhea leads to infertility.
- Trichomoniasis. It is quite common, and transmission can be acquired not only through sexual contact, but also in the swimming pool or by sharing a towel. In men, there is a burning sensation when urinating and purulent discharge from the urethra. In women - discharge, as well as itching and burning when urinating.
- Chlamydiosis. The symptom is purulent discharge from the genitals, which is easier to observe in men (in women it is vaginal discharge) and burning sensation when urinating. Advanced disease can lead to infertility.
- Infectious jaundice, types B and C. In the secretions of a sick or infected person there are HBV or HCV viruses, which can lead to cirrhosis of the liver and, consequently, even to liver cancer and death. The risk of infection is quite high, as virus carriers often do not know about it, have no symptoms and do not get sick.
- Genital herpes. The symptom is itchy and burning blisters. The disease is recurrent.
- HPV. In some cases, the infection leads to the development of a skin disease called condylomata acuminata. They can be removed surgically, but the virus cannot be de alt with. Once acquired, it remains in the body for life.
Condoms make sex more pleasant
There are condoms and… condoms. Those with the appropriate certificate confirming the performance of clinical trials, the most normal of the normal ones, are the most genuine and correct condoms. This means that they serve exactly what they were designed to do, to protect against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. It is best to buy them in pharmacies, but they are also on the shelves in stores, gas stations and in sex shops. But there are also those that are primarily intended to make sex life more pleasant - and here the ingenuity of the producers is enormous. All these flavors, smells, tabs, feathers, balls, vibrators (some condoms are equipped with them!) Can make you feel crazy. Of course, an approved condom that has been clinically and electronically proven may also prove ineffective (but this is most often the case when improperly handled or stored). On the other hand, a condom equipped with goodies can also be thoroughly tested for safety and effectiveness. However, what needs to be remembered, the ones with cool frills are rather toys, sexual gadgets that may not protect against pregnancy or illness.
