Hello, I would like to have a child, but my husband has been diagnosed with lung sarcoidosis. Is getting pregnant too risky for your baby? Will the baby be born he althy? Please send me more information on sarcoidosis and the risks to the offspring
Good morning!
Sarcoidosis is a systemic disease of the entire body, not only the lung disease as it is commonly believed. Basically, it is also not hereditary, i.e. the child will not "take over" the disease from the father in a simple way.
Based on family research, especially twins (the disease is more common among relatives), it can be assumed that genetic factors have some influence on its occurrence.
Sarcoidosis is a relatively poorly studied disease to this day, as the cause of it is still unknown. There is a defensive reaction of the body and the deposition of the so-called constituent parts. the cellular immune system in the connective tissue of the lungs. The result of this process is the formation of the so-called granulomas mainly in the lungs. The treatment of choice is steroids.
Regards and good he alth
