Honeyis not only delicious but also has he alth-promoting properties. Because what other treat, diluted and served cold, has an anti-diarrheal effect, and a more concentrated and slightly warmed one fights constipation and improves digestion?
Honey has a bactericidal effect
The father of medicine Hippocrates owes 111 years of his life to consuming large amounts of honey. It is said that Pythagoras also lived to see this drink of old age. It is true that modern research has not confirmed the impact of honey on longevity, but not all substances from the hive have been completely decoded and tested.
Enzymes are of great importance in honey. They come mainly from the salivary glands of insects. Honey contains hydrogen peroxide - a substance with bacteriostatic properties, in a 3% solution known as hydrogen peroxide. The antibiotic activity of diluted honey is 6 to 220 times higher than that of undiluted honey.
Other antibiotic substances produced by bees and introduced by them into honey include lysozyme, inhibin (the most are honeydew honey from pinewoods, lime and buckwheat honeys from apiaries located above 1000 m above sea level) and apidicin. They work, for example, on: gram-positive cocci, such as staphylococci and streptococci, and gram-negative bacilli.
In addition, honey works against anthrax bacilli, tuberculosis, vaginal trichomoniasis and yeast pathogenic fungi of the genus Candida.
In addition, honey contains large amounts of microelements: potassium, chlorine, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, iron, molybdenum, manganese and cob alt and vitamins: A, B1, B2, B6, B12, C, folic acid, pantothenic acid and biotin .
Honey strengthens the heart
Attention, heart-shaped! Acetylcholine contained in honey strengthens the efficiency of the heart muscle. The potassium present in it also has a beneficial effect on the heart.
Important- 100 grams of honey provides the body with 319 kcal.
- The most famous in the world are thyme honeys, coming from the hills in Greece.
- In Poland, linden honey is the most purchased. It is a very easily digestible product, it is completely digested in less than 2 hours (for comparison: ham in 4 hours).
- Honey has been used for beauty care for a long time. It is known for its moisturizing, brightening and elasticizing properties.
- The fructose contained in honey neutralizes the effects of drinking alcohol. The next day, it is worth eating a total of 200 grams of honey in two portions.
- If the closed jar is kept in a cool place (the best temperature is 6-10 degrees Celsius), it will not lose its value for 23 years.
Honey medicines and fortifying agents are irreplaceable in the period of increased physical and mental effort, with long, chronic diseases, exhaustion, deficiency of minerals and trace elements. They are recommended primarily for children, the elderly and those with unpleasant symptoms of menopause. They are able to quickly strengthen the immune forces of the body and increase the appetite.
Bee venom treatment
Bees sting in self-defense and… they pay for it with their lives. Together with the driven sting, they lose their own digestive tract. The first contact with the venom is unpleasant - there is swelling and redness. Over time, people become resistant to stings and they can be dangerous only to people who are allergic. Bee venom is an extremely potent antibiotic. Treatment with it, i.e. apitoxin therapy, is gaining more and more supporters. Effective against rheumatism, arthritis and rheumatism, it is also used in the treatment of neuroses, neuralgia, hypertension and skin diseases. The best results are obtained thanks to the treatment carried out directly in the apiary.
Honey enriched with herbs
Even if you believe skeptics who say that honey is primarily simple sugars, which, according to the latest theory, are poisonous to the body, it can be irreplaceable in many situations. When we are tired of insomnia, a little honey dissolved in water or honey candy can quickly restore sleep. It is good to have honey drops with you when you are tired. The glucose they contain instantly regenerates the tired brain and heart. The healing qualities of honey are increased by enriching it with herbal concentrates. The addition of chokeberry stimulates the appetite, lowers blood pressure; nettle - improves metabolism and pancreas. Honey with lemon balm has a calming and antispasmodic effect, with coltsfoot it is expectorant, anti-inflammatory and also antibacterial.
