The importance of fiber for the body
The process of grinding grains is important for the nutritional value. Wholemeal products are made from whole ground grain, uncleaned from the husk. They are therefore the richest in nutrients. They also contain a lot of plant fiber, i.e. fiber, which, although not absorbed by the human body, has an important task to fulfill: it improves intestinal peristalsis and facilitates defecation, reduces fat absorption and thus lowers cholesterol, and also reduces fluctuations in blood sugar levels. The daily dose of fiber is 25-40 g.
How to choose a grain diet for individual diseases?
Purified grain products no longer have such nutritional value and are mainly a source of energy. The type of diet that is rich or low in grain products depends on the underlying disease and the individual tolerance of each product.
Cereal diet for diabetes, kidney and liver diseases
In the case of diabetics, it is recommended to eat whole grain bread, wholemeal bread, graham type, coarse grains and pasta, brown and wild rice. People with damaged kidneys are recommended bread and pasta made of low-protein or gluten-free flour. Patients with liver disease should eat small groats (semolina, barley, Krakow), wheat bread, and avoid rye bread, wholemeal pasta or buckwheat.
