In turn, sexologists, based on studies of the entire population, estimate that the average time of penile stimulation until ejaculation is only about 5 minutes, and this value depends on the partner's level of excitement and the time that has elapsed since the previous intercourse.

There are no hard and fast guidelines for the duration of intercourse to ensure you have a satisfying sex experience every time. One can only define very indicative time periods that may be perceived as more or less desirable by the majority of society. To this end, researchers from Penn State University in the USA interviewed 50 members of the Society for Sexual Therapy - psychologists, sexologists, physiotherapists, and family therapists. These people, based on their own medical practice, indicated how long the intercourse is sufficient for them,desired, too short and too long. The survey results were as follows:
- 3-7 minutes of sex is enough to meet the partners' needs,
- 7-13 minutes of sex is the desired duration of intercourse that gives you the most pleasure,
- sex lasting less than 2 minutes was considered too short,
- Sex lasting 10-30 minutes was considered too long.
Premature ejaculation - the most common cause of sex problems
The main cause of too short intercourse and dissatisfaction with sex is premature ejaculation. This dysfunction occurs when ejaculation occurs earlier than the man wants it - right after the penis is inserted into the vagina, and even before that. Premature ejaculation can also be suspected in men for whom the maximum penetration time is 1-2 minutes and after this time they are unable to continue frictional movements.
Premature ejaculation is estimated to affect 1/3 of adult men. It is often a source of frustration for both partners and, if it happens repeatedly, requires treatment.
