High-risk sports just aren't for everyone. But some people just can't live without adrenaline. Here's what they can do.
Volcano boarding
Volcano boarding, which is a descent on a board from a volcano. These conventions attract thousands of enthusiasts. They are organized, for example, in Nicaragua on the Cerro Negro volcano, which is 165 years old and erupted for the last time in 1999. The descent board is simply constructed of wooden plywood and laminate as well as a rope with a handle.
Volcanic racers first climb the volcano with equipment. They jump into wetsuits, put on goggles and masks and slide down warm volcanic dust from an altitude of 700 meters above sea level. at speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km / h). Dizzying speed, the smell of sulfur, black sand squeezing into every crevice - a truly devilish sport!
BASE jumping
Yes, you have a parachute, and… that's it. The word BASE comes from the first letters in the English words: building, antenna, span, earth, but you can jump from anything that is very tall: skyscraper, bridge, masts and broadcast towers, mountain cliffs, cliffs … You jump and you fall. You open the parachute when you are close to the ground. Something may always go wrong.
The main risk factors are:
- the short time that the jumper has to open the parachute and the fact that the base jumper has only one parachute - due to the short flight, the reserve parachute is … redundant
- short distance from the object you are jumping from and high risk of hitting it
- landing, which usually takes place on a small area …
In 2013, the Russian set a record for such a jump from the highest height. He jumped from Mount Everest from a height of 7,220 m above sea level. (the top of the mountain is 8,848 m above sea level). From 1981 to 2022, at least 162 jumpers practicing the sport died.
Train surfing
Also: tram surfing. It is a ride outside a speeding train or tram. And it looks exactly like the action movies. It is not surprising then that this activity is illegal in many countries, as well as, it cannot be concealed, highly lethal.
Although riding on the roof of the train has long been a popular form of travel in South Africa, India and Indonesia, it was dictated by the economic conditions of passengers and the lack of seats intrains. As extreme entertainment, it began to gain popularity in 2005 in Germany. You can sit, stand, run, hang from the side of the train, jump from platform to platform. Only for people who are not strongly attached to life.
Skydiving
That is sky diving. It consists in jumping out of the plane at a high altitude (most often it is 4000 m) and then, during free flight, performing various types of acrobatic figures alone or in a group. Positions that additionally increase the flight speed are very often used. In some cases, it can even reach 300 km / h!
As the popularity of this sport grew, several types of skydiving began to be distinguished:
- relative work - these are sky acrobatics in the group
- freefly with solo acrobatic figures
- skysurfing - air acrobatics on a board
- speed skydiving for fast-falling enthusiasts
- wingsuit skydiving - this is flying in a special suit, the purpose of which is to extend the time of free fall without the parachute canopy open.
Creeking
It is for those who do not like rafting (white water rafting, using various types of rafts, boats, pontoons). Here you can go on a special canoe or canoe on a mountain rushing and narrow stream (white water). You can bruise yourself.
