Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that loves everything that is imperfect, past, slightly worn … In a word, everything that has a soul! It is self-acceptance of what life gives us. Wabi-sabi is gaining popularity in interior design. It is similar in training!

Wabi-sabi is a Japanese philosophy that loves everything natural and time-worn. Generally speaking, she loves everything that has a soul. Wabi-sabi assumes that only the older, imperfect things are worth attention. As a result, wabi-sabi was quickly picked up by interior designers and enthusiasts of a lifestyle that deviates from modern trends and enthusiastic about the automation of life.

Wabi-sabi - what is it?

The wabi-sabi philosophy is about loving what is natural. Followers of this philosophy appreciate simplicity, nature, modesty - they believe that you don't need much to live. And it is true - many things are unnecessary for us, and we buy them only to impress others or not to differ from others.

The Japanese trend is to respect values, live in simplicity, avoid mass production and consumption. It applies to all areas of life, including interior design and training - but more on that in a moment.

  • Wabi - means simplicity, living in harmony with nature, humility. When applied to people, it describes someone who is satisfied with what they have.
  • Sabi - describes the passage of time, passing, aging. It also means accepting transience in the sense of mortality.

Wabi-sabi - how to achieve them?

Wabi-sabi is a state of mind that accompanies us always and everywhere - we remain calm, and we often see beauty in things that are imperfect in the context of modernity. Old phone? It is beautiful because it has a history. Wrinkles? This is the story of our smiles! Professing a wabi-sabi philosophy means that we accept our fate with humility. Of course - we can change it or strive for better changes, but we should be humble and willing to live in harmony with nature.

Wabi-sabi is a contradiction of mass production, consumption, living among modern trends. It is also a great solution for the wallet - if you like to walk on secondary stores, then you perfectly fit into the wabi-sabi rhythm. Wabi-sabi requires a reevaluation of your priorities -our life is to be calm but thoughtful. It is not worth wasting time on polite conversations or looking at the smartphone screen. Nature is beautiful, and we will achieve peace in communing with it.

Wabi-sabi is also the art of focusing on the pleasure of what you have. It does not involve the constant pursuit of more.

Wabi-sabi and training

Wabi-sabi is not a philosophy that aims to meet the modern canons of beauty. As we have already written, wrinkles are beautiful because they are our history, and makeup is unnecessary because it is not natural and we waste valuable time on it. Wabi-sabi believes that imperfections are our advantage. This philosophy can be compared to body positivity.

This means that there is no body sculpting, no murderous workouts … Training is to be a pleasure, relaxation, and not a way to break records! Wab-sabi trainings include yoga, running in the rain, walks on the beach or in the woods, not a murderous effort at the gym and before and after photos.

The body is to serve us, so it has to be he althy, but not overtrained. We should do the same with food - wabi-sabi is a contradiction of restrictive diets or food porn. It should be he althy, nutritious and as natural as possible (i.e. fast food or ordered food are eliminated). Food should be rich in nutrients, but beware - used! According to the wabi-sabi philosophy, we should throw away as little as possible and buy as little as possible. This means very conscious shopping! And the unused swimming pool pass is no longer available!

Remember - wabi-sabi celebrates what is real. Compatible. So you have to be in harmony with yourself and enjoy what you do.
