Walks around trees cheer you up. Why is this happening? Essential oils secreted by trees have a healing effect on our bodies. For example, birch alleviates depression, oak improves blood circulation, and horse chestnut improves mood. Learn about the healing properties of other trees.

The ancients already knew thattreeshad a beneficial effect on our body. Their healing powers were also used by folk medicine, dividing trees into good and bad. The first included linden, birch, chestnut, oak, rowan and elderberry. Poplar, aspen and alder were considered "vampires", which deprive us of energy.

Also today, more and more doctors recommend their patients to stay surrounded by trees, which are a natural source of oxygen, as often as possible. Instead, they absorb dust, soot and toxins from the air. Research in Russia showed that a Siberian fir sprig placed in a hospital room reduced the number of germs in the air by half.

How trees affect he alth?

It is known that conifers, thanks to the essential oils they emit, have a strong aseptic effect and have a beneficial effect on the respiratory system. That is why sanatoriums in which diseases related to it are treated are most often established among pine forests.

As part of the research on the beneficial effects of trees on the human body, the Americans placed one group of patients with cardiovascular problems and arterial hypertension in a sanatorium surrounded by lime trees. The patients were instructed to walk through the trees for three hours every day. The remaining patients were treated classically in hospital conditions.

After a month, the results in both groups were almost identical - there was an improvement in 80 percent of the patients. This experiment therefore proved that some conditions can be treated without pharmacological agents. On the other hand, other studies have shown the beneficial effect of beech forests in reducing discomfort resulting from persistent migraines and excessive stress.

So if we have such problems, we should go to the nearest park or forest, find a tree that is right for us and hug it tightly.

This can be done in three ways:

  • lean your back against the tree and the back of your head while touching the trunk with your bare hands;
  • face the tree trunk, put your forehead against it and embrace it with your bare hands;
  • lie down under the tree, resting your bare feet on it.
