Increased testosterone in women has an impact on their behavior, according to the latest research by British scientists. The male hormone is responsible, for example, for self-centeredness.

Egocentrismand speed in makingdecisionsare exclusively the domain ofmen ? Not at all, confirmed by the latest research results. British scientist Nicholas Wright conducted a series of experiments on women. It turned out that women with an increased amount oftestosteronein their blood are more confident in giving opinions on various topics. In addition, there is a lack of willingness to cooperate, which is usually considered a typically female trait.

Testosterone and placebo

A group of scientists from a London university invited a group of women who did not know each other before. They were tested in pairs. The women were alternately dosed with testosterone and placebo. Then the test participants were seated in front of the computer. Their task was to recognize specific images on the screen from very abstract elements and establish a common version of the answer. It turned out that the women who were given the placebo had no problems agreeing on a common version.

Certainty of decisions

On the other hand, those participants who took testosterone more often insisted on their own interpretation of the formulas and firmly rejected the partner's version. "Too much testosterone makes us indifferent to the views of others," says Nicholas Wright.

The results of the research were published in the Wednesday (February 1, 2012) issue of the British specialist journal Proceedings of the Rogal Society B.
