A headache after coffee can appear in two extreme cases: either after drinking too much coffee, or after completely discontinuing the stimulant. In both cases it is not a pleasant experience. How to deal with a headache after coffee?

Althoughcaffeineis used in many painkillers, in the case of a severe headache or migraine, instead of helping, it harms, increasing the so-called rebound pain. A headache after coffee can appear both when you drink too much of it, as well as when you significantly limit your consumption. The headache after stopping coffee completely may come back for several weeks.

Remedies for a headache after coffee

If you have a headache after taking a coffee, try more natural methods before reaching for medications:

  • drink a lot, preferably still water, at room temperature, fruit and herbal teas also work well - give up tea, because it also contains caffeine
  • apply breathing relaxation techniques
  • sleep and rest more
  • also spend more time outdoors

However, if it turns out that you need to take a painkiller, check if it does not contain caffeine.
