Registering to see a doctor, although it seems simple, does not always run smoothly. Often, for reasons incomprehensible to us, we leave the window with a receipt. It is therefore worth knowing what rights the patient who wants to seek medical advice has at the counter.
You wantto register for a doctor , but once again you walk away from the registration window with nothing? The registrar asks you intimate questions or limits the possibility of signing up for an appointment only to a few days / hours? Check that yourpatient's rightsare not being violated.
- It is not allowed to refer to zoning when providing benefits
The patient may not be sent to the place of residence if he / she has selected a doctor and completed the relevant declaration. The insured person is free to choose a primary care physician, nurse and midwife, provided that these persons have signed a contract with the National He alth Fund. Patients are not subject to zoning, which means that we can be treated wherever we want. In the event of a sudden deterioration of the he alth condition, the insured person has the right to consult a doctor other than the one he or she previously chose, free of charge.
- The registration officer should not ask the patient detailed questions about the disease, its causes and course
Questions may only concern data facilitating registration to a doctor: name and surname, PESEL number, home address, or telephone number to confirm the visit.
The patient has the right to register for an appointment at the doctor's office on any chosen day, during the registration's working hours. The patient may not be forced to register with a doctor in person. We can register for a medical appointment in person, by phone, in many clinics by e-mail or through a third party. The registration worker is required to provide the date and time of the visit.
If the specialist doctor has scheduled the next visit, the patient should be thereprescribed by the date determined by the doctor. In the event of any difficulties regarding the indicated date, the registration employee should contact the doctor in order to arrange the date of the next visit. A patient already treated must be admitted (booked for the next visit) before patients who are waiting for the first visit to a specialist and have not yet started treatment.
A referral to a specialist doctor is related to a specific disease and is important throughout the treatment process of that disease. So there is no need to renew your referral every year, unless the diagnosis changes. In the event of termination of hospital treatment, the information card from the hospital does not constitute a referral for further specialist treatment. The physician referring the patient to a specialist attaches to the referral the results of the necessary diagnostic tests that enable the confirmation of the initial diagnosis.
On the other hand, the patient, when unable to appear on the scheduled date, should also inform the clinic about it, taking into account the welfare of other people waiting for the service.
