Aromatherapyis based on the therapeutic use of essential oils obtained from various parts of plants: flowers, leaves, stems, tree bark, roots and seeds. All of them have antiseptic properties, some refresh, stimulate, increase concentration, others improve mood, have antidepressant properties, and relax. Still others make it easier to fall asleep, soothe various pains or are aphrodisiacs.

Aromatherapy: application

  • Bathis the most pleasant form of aromatherapy, it affects all the senses, because the warm water makes the aroma intense. This way you can give yourself energy or gently relax your body. Oils added to bath cosmetics do not dissolve in water, but float on its surface all the time. When you leave the bathtub, your body is covered with an aromatic film.
  • Massageusing essential oils allows you to combine the benefits of physical therapy with the benefits of inhaling and rubbing fragrant essences into the skin. Muscles relax, blood circulation is improved. Massage helps you relax, reduces stress and improves your mood. If you want to use a concentrated oil, remember to spread it in the so-called base oil, e.g. almond oil or regular olive oil (2-3 drops of oil per tablespoon of olive oil). Essential oils in concentrated form can irritate the skin.

Aromatherapy: action

  • Lavender

Bubble baths with the addition of this oil help to relax muscles, relieve stress and calm down after a nervous day. Those who suffer from insomnia should put a bag of dried lavender under the pillow or sprinkle a few drops of essential oil on the cake. Lavender body lotions soothe skin inflammation, help in the treatment of acne and mycosis. This oil is great for headaches, anxiety and depression.

  • Rosemary

Due to its strong antiseptic properties, it is added to cosmetics for oily skin and acne-prone skin. It also excellently stimulates blood circulation and refreshes, so it is an ingredient of shower gels recommended for morning baths. This oil eliminates the so-called heavy legs. For this reason, it is often found in foot creams. As rosemary increases the desire for sex, it is considered an aphrodisiac.

  • Sandalwood

It has antibacterial properties and soothes inflammation of the skin. That is why it is sometimes a component of body lotions that gently lubricate and sooth irritations. Bath lotions with the addition of sandalwood oil have a relaxing effect, soothe nervous tension, menstrual pain, and help you fall asleep.

  • Ylang-ylang

It calms, relaxes and relieves muscle tension caused by stress - so it is suitable for a relaxing evening bath in the bathtub. Most often it can be found in bath lotions and oils, and in relaxing creams and body lotions. Natural medicine treats Ylang-Ylang as an aid in the treatment of depression. It is also considered an aphrodisiac.

  • Mandarin

Mandarin essential oil improves your mood and refreshes. Scientists have found that it reduces the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and mobilizes to action. That is why it is worth using toilet water or a balm with a tangerine scent before an important exam. Citrus aromas added to face tonics or creams brighten the skin, normalize the secretion of sebum and slightly tighten the pores. A bath in "citrus" will also make it easier to fall asleep.

  • Mint

As an ingredient of body lotions, shower gels and foot creams, it cools the skin, refreshes and soothes irritations. Peppermint oil added to bath lotions helps to relax after a tiring and nervous day and reduces muscle tension. In natural medicine, it is used as a hair strengthening agent and against motion sickness.
