How is plaque formed?
Plaqueis a sticky deposit, sometimes brown in color, made of food debris mixed with dead mucosa cells, microbes and bacteria that cling to the surface of the teeth. Plaque bacteria cause gum disease, such as gingivitis and periodontitis, and produce acid that attacks tooth enamel and accelerates cavities.
The toothbrush is not able to clean all hard-to-reach places where bacterial plaque quickly accumulates, so sandblasting should be performed regularly. Dental sand reaches all even the smallest crevices and removes all harmful deposits and discoloration, thus minimizing the risk of dental and gum diseases.
Who is sandblasting for?
Sandblasting of teeth is intended for:

- people who drink a lot of coffee and tea
- people wearing braces
- owners of the so-called crowded teeth
- people who have decided to whiten their teeth
These people should have the procedure every few months. Teeth sandblasting is a preventive treatment that is performed every six months. Regular sandblasting of the teeth in order to remove small deposits and discoloration will prevent the development of bacteria, tooth and gum diseases and maintain the aesthetic appearance of the teeth.
Is sandblasting a painful procedure?
Teeth sandblasting is safe and painless, however, more sensitive patients after the proceduremay experience discomfort in the form of gum irritation. An unpleasant, s alty taste of dental sand in the mouth is also characteristic.
What does teeth sandblasting look like?
During the treatment, a sand blaster, under pressure and with an appropriate amount of water, sprays fine powder in the patient's mouth. Thanks to this, it easily reaches even the most inaccessible places, such as grooves on the tooth surfaces or interdental spaces. The used sand is then sucked out of the mouth with a suction device. The entire procedure takes about 30 minutes and costs about PLN 120. After sandblasting the teeth, it is recommended to use varnish (fluoridation) to strengthen the tooth enamel.
ImportantSandblasting is not able to remove permanent discoloration, such as congenital enamel disorders, post-antibiotic discoloration or initial caries spots.
Recommendations after the treatment
For the first 3 hours after the procedure, the patient should refrain from smoking, drinking tea, coffee, wine or other colored drinks, as the teeth are prone to discoloration during this period. After this time, you can return to your normal lifestyle. However, patients should remember that if they want to maintain the aesthetic effect as long as possible, they must maintain the best possible oral hygiene.
