Viagra, the little blue pill, also known as the love pill or sexaspirin, may not have revolutionized the world, but it has undoubtedly conquered it. However, the drug for erectile dysfunction should not be confused with aphrodisiacs. Find out how Viagra is different from aphrodisiacs and when they are used.

Viagraaaphrodisiac- what are the differences between them? According to the New York sexologist Dr. Leonore Tiefer,Viagracaused the line between the joy of sex and reproduction to fade away. The pill restored faith in the effectiveness of the drug, taught to believe that you can havesexlong, happily and without fear that one day it will end once and for all.

However, the appearance of the blue pill, and soon other similar drugs (Cialis, Levitra), also caused an avalanche of many uncontrolled behaviors. Because it turned out that Viagra, which has a specific therapeutic effect and therefore should only be used for medical indications (it is a prescription drug), can be purchased from various sources, without a prescription. Additionally, many of these "bargains" are counterfeit products that threaten not only the he alth, but also the lives of buyers. Also those who confuse drugs intended for the treatment oferection problemswith aphrodisiacs. Because Viagra and similar ones are not the same as, for example, quail eggs, considered to be one of the stronger aphrodisiacs.

Viagra: an aphrodisiac drug

The main difference between them is that the drug is used to treat certain disorders, and the aphrodisiac only stimulates sexual function.

During sexual stimulation, Viagra biochemically relaxes the smooth muscles in the cavernous bodies of the penis, allowing the blood to flow to the penis and allow it to erect. So the drug restores the possibilities, makes a certain pattern work again, damaged for various reasons. This type of medication should only be used by men who have erection problems for medical reasons (and you should know that erectile dysfunction is often the first symptom of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure).

In turn, aphrodisiacs can be reached by he althy, sexually efficient men who want to give themselves vigor, experience fuller orgasms, seem to themselves and their partners to be more fit. They do not removeand disorders resulting from medical reasons, although some of them are advertised as miracle drugs.

Viagra for women

Women should not reach for Viagra and other drugs of this type. The studies conducted so far on their influence on female sexuality have not given a definite answer. The female sexaspirin is therefore still an open affair. On the other hand, over-the-counter preparations available on the market (e.g. Vamea) have a different effect, and the effects are visible after longer use.

When Viagra, when Cialis, when Levitra

They all have the same task to do: make "him" rise to the occasion and just … do. And he could still do a bit in this position. But there are differences between them. For example, Viagra will work after 30-50 minutes and its effect will last for about 4-5 hours. Levitra, on the other hand, is effective after 15 minutes and lasts up to 9 hours, while Cialis will work after 15 minutes and its longest effect is up to 36 hours.

There are also different drug interactions with meals. For example, when taking Viagra, fatty foods should be avoided as they reduce its effect, and Levitra and Cialis work regardless of the type of food you are taking. However, with all drugs of this type, alcohol consumption should be limited - in larger amounts it may interfere with the effect of the drug, and also cause side effects.

According to an expertprof. Zbigniew Lew-Starowicz, sexologist

Since Viagra and similar drugs are not aphrodisiacs, they should not be used by men to experiment with sex, for example, for breaking records or wanting to have intercourse with several partners at the same time. They should also not be used in the absence of desire and excitement towards a given partner. Aphrodisiacs are indicated for inducing or strengthening desire.

Are Viagra drugs safe?

Certainly not for everyone. They should not be used by men taking certain circulatory medications (mainly nitrates), with blood diseases and penile deformities. Their use should always be decided by a doctor.

Are aphrodisiacs safe?

Some (e.g. yohimbine, cantaridine, also known as the Spanish fly) can be dangerous, especially for people suffering from heart disease or hypertension. Moreover, they can become addictive and therefore, although available over the counter, they should be taken under medical supervision.
