Is it best to sleep on your side when pregnant?

Yes. Especially in the second half of pregnancy. When a woman is lying on her back, a large child may put pressure on the aorta and the vena cava. Pressure on the aorta reduces the supply of oxygenated blood to the placenta (and thus to the fetus), and pressure on the vena cava may be responsible for leg swelling or pressure drop.

Is it possible to predict a child's gender by judging his mother's appearance?

No. A common opinion is that if a woman looks nice when pregnant, she will give birth to a son, if worse - a daughter, because she "steals" her beauty. Meanwhile, beauty has nothing to do with the sex of the child. If the pregnancy is going well, the woman is he althy, feels good and looks beautiful. When he is ill or leads an unhygienic lifestyle - he does not care for himself and the child - he looks worse.

How to check the sex of a child?

Will smoking a pregnant woman make her give birth to a smaller child?

Yes. Scientists have observed that tobacco inhibits the growth of a child. This is probably due to the fact that a small organism is poisoned, among others, by carbon monoxide. With each cigarette, about 4,000 reach him. poisonous substances. At the same time, it gets less oxygen via the placenta. When a pregnant woman smokes, her baby is also a smoker. Therefore, packets of tobacco products should bear the words: "A cigarette or a he althy child; the choice is yours.

Is it forbidden to treat teeth during pregnancy?

No. Contrary! Pregnancy-related changes in the body negatively affect the he alth of the teeth and gums, and regular visits to the dentist are necessary. Neglected cavities can be the sourcean infection that also harms your baby. If the pregnancy is planned, the woman should heal her teeth in advance.

Is it impossible to sunbathe while pregnant?

Yes. Even though our skin produces vitamin D when exposed to the sun, which is essential for a child's development. It is enough for the expectant mother to walk in the penumbra. Sunbathing is not recommended, among others because it is difficult to completely protect yourself from harmful ultraviolet radiation; the skin of a pregnant woman is very sensitive and the sun can irritate it and cause discoloration; and the body dehydrates itself, which is not good for the baby.

Should a woman in advanced pregnancy wear a seat belt in the car?

No. On the contrary, he must fasten them. There is no evidence that seat belts increase the risk of injury to the unborn child. The fetus is located in a flexible fluid-filled uterus, which protects it from injury. The mother's muscles, organs and bones adjacent to the uterus provide additional cover. In the event of a collision, for example, the child is briefly pressed by the seat belt, but this is a small risk. A pregnant woman should wear the lap belt below the belly: across the top of the thighs and as low as possible over the hips. It is better not to wear it on the stomach, as it may injure the ribs or the abdomen. The shoulder strap should run across the shoulder, between the breasts and along the side.

Do vegetarians need to switch to a meat diet during pregnancy?

No. Although meat is an ideal source of protein and iron, these ingredients can also be found in e.g. dairy products, beans, soybeans, lentils, nuts, sprouts. If a pregnant vegetarian eats a lot of them, it gives the baby a good chance of proper development. It's even better when her diet includes fish, eggs and poultry. A vegan diet based solely on plants is not recommended during pregnancy. Such nutrition is extremely poor, e.g. in calcium. So if a pregnant woman is vegan, she needs to talk to her doctor about her diet.

Should cats disappear from the environment of a pregnant woman?

Yes and no. True, they are carriers of the protozoan that causes toxoplasmosis. But not all of them. This can be checked by having the animal tested at the vet. Toxoplasmosis can cause miscarriage or birth defects to the baby, it is most dangerous in the first 3 months of pregnancy. The expectant mother, to calm down, can take a simple blood test to determine the level of IgM and IgG antibodies. Probably they will prove that she has already become immune to her cat's protozoan (if it is a carrier).

Should you not travel by plane during pregnancy?

No. If the woman is he althy and the pregnancy proceeds withoutcomplications, there are no contraindications to sky-high voyages. It is true, however, that the cabin pressure in long-haul airliners is somewhat lower, and pregnant women may feel more lethargic and tired than others. Some airlines do not accept women after their 36th week of pregnancy. In order not to cause unnecessary confusion at the airport, it is worth checking it in advance.

Is it possible to work at the computer when pregnant?

Yes. Research has not proven that electromagnetic radiation from a computer, microwave oven or "cell" is harmful to the fetus. While blowing in the cold, pregnant women are not advised to work longer than 4 hours a day at the computer (the employer should take this into account).
