Chlamydia is caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Chlamydia infection occurs during intercourse (also anal or oral). If you notice symptoms of this disease, see a doctor, because untreated chlamydiosis can lead to serious complications.
Chlamydia symptoms
May occur 2-5 weeks after infection. In men, the first appearance of mucopurulent discharge from the urethra and slight pain when urinating. In womenchlamydiosismanifests itselfvaginal discharge , burning when urinating, abdominal pain.
How do you detect chlamydiosis?
To detect thissexually transmitted disease , a urethral or vaginal swab is taken and a sample of the secretion is examined under a microscope. Your doctor may also order a urine analysis. The most reliable method, however, is to perform a culture, i.e. to cultivate bacteria from the collected swab.
Treatment of chlamydia
Usually 7 to 14 days to take an antibiotic. After this time, you should undergo a check-up to make sure that the drug has successfully de alt with the bacteria. Untreated chlamydiosis can lead to epididymitis and prostatitis in men, and to inflammation of the cervix, ovaries and fallopian tubes in women. If, as a result of inflammation, adhesions form in the fallopian tubes, it may be the cause of infertility.
Note! Chlamydial infection during pregnancy may result in conjunctivitis in the baby.
Treatment of sexually transmitted diseases is free. It is enough to come to the skin and venereology clinic. You do not need to use the local clinic.
