Pregnancy and breastfeeding change your breasts. Most often, unfortunately, for the worse. What can you do to quickly regain its former form after childbirth and breastfeeding? Here are some ways to tone your bust.

My bust "looks like hanging pears", "reaches to the waist" - this is the milder of the terms that on internet forums give theirbreasts after pregnancy and breastfeedingyoung mothers. Usually they have something to complain about: the bust after pregnancy often becomes unsightly and loses its firmness. But there are also other voices on the forums - women who are expecting a baby and do not want to join the group of those complaining about their breasts. They most often ask what to do to prevent the breasts from losing their original shape after giving birth.

How breasts change in pregnancy

Pregnancy is the most appropriate time for such questions - what your breasts will be after giving birth to a large extent depends on how you took care of them during those nine months. This is because most of the changes that affect their future appearance take place then. Already in the first trimester, under the influence of estrogens and progesterone, the lobes of the mammary gland begin to grow, which will produce milk. As a result, the breasts enlarge by up to 300 g. Sometimes the pace of their growth is so fast that stretch marks appear. The force of gravity causes the bust to droop as the skin cannot hold it.

Breast care during pregnancy

To minimize what cosmetologists call "loss of breast elasticity", you should apply a cream or gel every day to make the skin supple and taut. Such cosmetics contain ingredients that improve blood microcirculation, tighten the skin, and stimulate the production of collagen, which is responsible for skin elasticity. Most of them also prevent stretch marks. Apply it gently with circular movements from bottom to top; start in the armpit by moving your hand to the breastbone, then to the neck, and then to the collarbone. Avoid the nipples as stimulating them causes the release of oxytocin and may cause contractions.

During the day, whenever you have a free moment, fold your hands as if you are in prayer and take turns pressing them together and then releasing - this exercise strengthens the muscles that support the breasts. While you shower, massage your breasts alternately with warm and cool water for five minutes(change the water temperature every half a minute) - in the cold, the skin tightens and the muscles around the bust contract, which makes the breasts slightly rise.

Once in a while, you can visit the beautician for a skin firming treatment. Cooling masks are recommended, as they freeze on the skin and tighten it. Before the procedure, be sure to tell the beautician about your pregnancy.

Also, invest in a bra that is sized for your changing bust to support your breasts and keep them from falling. It should have underwires covering the entire breast so that they do not touch each other. Avoid the so-called bras "growing" by a number - they stretch under the bust, not giving the breasts the proper support.

Breastfeeding break

If you have not had the time or the desire to take care of your breasts during pregnancy, there is little you can do after the birth until you finish breastfeeding. During the lactation period, treatments in the office are not necessary, and the use of most cosmetics is inadvisable. Although the ingredients will not penetrate into the milk, their smell may make the child reluctant to suckle the breast, and the skin of a baby who cuddled to the breast smeared with some preparation may develop a rash.

How can you take care of your breasts while breastfeeding? It is definitely worth massaging your breasts in the shower (just like when you are pregnant), wearing a properly selected, special nursing bra and exercising the muscles around the bust and supporting it.

Firming the bust after breastfeeding

Many young mothers complain that after the end of breastfeeding, the breasts have become "empty", soft and saggy. This is because when lactation stops, the amount of body fat is reduced. The excess skin (its cells were formed during pregnancy, when the breasts started to grow) is then visible to the naked eye.

What can you do with it? First of all, invest in good cosmetics. Now you can use them without restrictions. Highly concentrated, shock treatments in ampoules will be the most effective. The ingredients contained in them stimulate cell renewal, making fibroblasts produce collagen and elastin fibers responsible for the condition of the skin faster. As a result, the skin on the breasts becomes stronger and more tense.

Breast creams are also effective, although not so fast. Many of them contain vitamin E, which improves elasticity, and complexes that tighten and firm the skin. It is important to use them systematically (the cream should be rubbed into the skin twice a day, and the treatment in ampoules should be used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions). It is best to rub them into the skin when it is hot (e.g. afterbath).

Exercise your chest muscles to tone your bust

Whether the breasts are in shape again depends on the condition of the muscles in the chest. When you make them stronger, they support the breasts better. In addition to the abovementioned exercise with pressing the hands, we recommend swimming, which has a great effect on the appearance of the bust.

You can also do push-ups in the women's version. Kneel down with your hands on your knees and raise your lower legs so that your calves form a V with your thighs. Bend your elbows to make sure your chest does not touch the floor.

Exercises with weights are also effective. Sit on a chair, grab the weights, raise your arms to the side and bend at right angles. Attach the weights in front of the chest, then bring the arms back to the side.

Time for cosmetic treatments that firm the bust and reduce stretch marks

During most treatments, the beautician massages a firming serum into the skin on the breasts, then applies a mask (algae or cosmetic plaster) to tighten the skin. Paraffin masks on the breasts work in a similar way - liquid paraffin applied to the skin, solidifies, tightens and moisturizes the skin. You can also treat your breasts with microcurrents. During this procedure, the beautician places a head connected to a device emitting low-frequency current to the breast. The result is a firmer, firmer skin. If you have stretch marks on your breasts, you can get rid of them with diamond microdermabrasion. Intensive exfoliation of the epidermis makes these scars less visible.

Buy bras that fit your changing breast sizes

A suitable bra during pregnancy and breastfeeding is the most important thing for the he alth of your breasts. Breast size changes frequently and you have to react to these changes from the beginning of pregnancy by buying well-chosen bras. After pregnancy and breastfeeding, your breasts will likely resize too. So you will need to buy a new bra. It must not be too loose in circumference (so that it supports the bust well), nor too small in the cups (so that the breasts do not overflow from the cups).
