Infertility is not a sentence. Thanks to modern therapies, couples in which infertility lies with the man have a chance of having a baby. There are many ways to treat male infertility: electroejaculation, insemination or IVF.

Just as the causes ofmale infertilityare complex, the treatment process is also different, tailored to each couple.Male infertility treatmentusually involves surgery (for example to restore the vas deferens) or pharmacological procedures.
The first is usually performed in urology departments, the second - at home. In addition to anti-inflammatory drugs, when an infection is diagnosed, various means are used to strengthen the male body and itssperm(hormones, vitamins, micronutrients). You need to be patient when using these methods, because the effects of treatment may not be noticeable earlier than after three months. Human sperm production takes more than 70 days, and its journey through the epididymis for another 14. The processes of creating a full-fledged sperm are very complicated and sensitive to even the smallest disturbances (general infections, medications, stress). Then the process is significantly longer.

Male infertility treatment: insemination or electroejaculation

If there are not many sperm cells, they are "lazy" and cannot make it during ovulation (i.e. after the release of a mature egg from the follicle) or have a problem with getting through the cervical mucus, the solution is insemination, i.e. the introduction of sperm (using a syringe and a special catheter) directly into the uterus, avoiding the obstacles.
If there is a problem with the natural way the man donates sperm (e.g. due to spinal cord injury), modern medicine comes to the rescue. Semen is then obtained using one of three methods: vibration (mechanical stimulation of the penis), electroejaculation (using electrical impulses) or testicular biopsy.

Male infertility treatment: in vitro

In the case of more severe problems, especially not fully explained long-term marital infertility or extremely poor sperm parameters, the solution is the in vitro method, i.e. in vitro fertilization (its type is micromanipulation, i.e. the introduction of the sperm directly into a mature egg).
Cost of fertilizationextracorporeal care in Poland ranges from 8 to 12 thousand. PLN, including 3-4 thousand. PLN is the amount spent on drugs, and the remaining 4-6 thousand. PLN is therapy and treatments (infertility treatment is not reimbursed by the National He alth Fund). In our country, embryos are not killed, extracorporeal origination of life takes place in an atmosphere of respect for human dignity. For many couples, this is often the only way to grow a family.
