Polygamyinvolves a man getting married with more than one woman. In polygamy, physical aspects are usually the most important, but people who decide to create such relationships are also often motivated by tradition, religious rites, and family coercion. The desire to live in polygamy may also result from low self-esteem and the desire to self-esteem. Often, polygamous relationships are created also without prior planning, but under the influence of situations, e.g. problems or a serious illness and the will to seek additional spiritual support from third parties.

What is polygamy?

Polygamyis a social phenomenon in which a man marries more than one woman. In some countries it is legal and allowed by the adherents of Islam. There is no legal consent to polygamy in Europe, and its practice, which is increasingly publicized in the media, is subject to criminal sanctions.

Polygamy already existed in ancient civilizations. It was primarily sexual and material. It was practiced in Babylon, Egypt, India, China, but also in the Inca and Astek countries. In these places, power was concentrated around one titled person, e.g. a pharaoh, emperor or king, and usually only he, as the leader of the people, could afford the possibility of establishing and maintaining the so-called harems. The ruler's we alth influenced the number of women with whom he lived in polygamous relationships. This number ranged from about a hundred concubines to even several thousand slave wives in the richest. After all, only one of them was officially married. That kind of polygamy differs significantly from the one that occursNowadays. The idea was that the ruler, as the carrier of divine genes, should leave as many children as possible after himself, that such wonderful people as him would be the foundation of the people.

Polygamy - reasons

The causes of contemporary polygamy include:

1. Uncertainty in sexual contacts- the desire to have more than one sexual partner may result from attempts to prove to himself exceptional efficiency in intimate contacts. In a situation where a man is able to satisfy not one, but two or even several women, he becomes, in his own judgment, more valuable. According to male practitioners, polygamy can help them find answers to difficult questions about their sexuality, values, or fears related to their own intimate life.

2. Low self-esteem- the lack of an objective assessment of one's own abilities and self-confidence may lead to failures in many areas of life. Polygamy is a way of compensating them, apparently rewarding them in the form of above-average activity in the sexual sphere. This is one form of self-suggestion that a specific person is doing well at least during intercourse.

Worth knowing

Polygamy in Poland

Polygamy is illegal in Poland - pursuant to Art. 206 of the Criminal Code "who concludes marriage despite being married shall be subject to a fine, restriction of liberty or imprisonment for up to two years". In our country, a man can only marry one woman at a time. The situation of legally contracting a marriage with another woman is allowed only when the first partner dies or when the man obtains a final divorce and ends the original relationship. Polygamy in Poland has been marginalized.

However, situations where two sexual partners of one man know about each other, accept each other more often, but only one of them is officially his wife. Such relationships can be called triangles (usually when it comes to sex only) or unregulated polygamy, i.e. operating on the basis of ordinary polygamy, but without regulating relations with women in the form of an official wedding. It is nothing more than being in two or more relationships in parallel. Such unofficial relationships are not punished in Poland, therefore it is one of the factors that lead to their practice.

Polygamy in the world

Countries where polygamy is legal are: Sudan, Somalia, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Gabon, Bahrain, United Arab EmiratesArab, Iran, Iraq, Yemen, Jordan, Oman, Palestine, Ethiopia, Kuwait, Qatar, Brunei, Syria, Afghanistan, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Maldives, Singapore, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Chad, Djibouti, Comoros, Egypt, Gambia, Cameroon, Congo, Mali, Morocco, Mauritania, Niger, Togo, Central African Republic, South Africa, Western Sahara, Senegal, Uganda and Zambia.

Polygamy - how to deal with it?

Regardless of how attractive a sexual partner is, a man's libido drops over time during a long relationship with one woman. It is natural. Instead of escaping into a betrayal or parallel relationship with another person, try to diversify your erotic life by introducing innovation into your intimate life.

An honest conversation about what is missing in your relationship and the willingness to fix it through the cooperation of both parties can help you drop the thought of polygamy and seek complete happiness alongside another.

Try to take care of the relationship you create with your partner. Make her a nice surprise that will surprise her and break you out of the everyday monotony. It can be, for example, a spontaneous trip together for a weekend. Changing the environment and cutting yourself off from everyday problems will have a positive effect on your life.

If there are any disputes or issues between you and you often argue - try to eliminate them from your life. End or compromise unexplained threads to resolve these issues so that they don't further damage your relationship.

Poliandria - women who have many husbands (partners)

Polyandry is otherwise a multitude. This term describes a situation in which a woman has several husbands at the same time. Polyandry occurs less frequently than relationships between men and several women at the same time. Polyandry already existed in ancient Sparta, but its main cause may have been the disproportionate number of women (much larger) than men who regularly participated in battles.

In some places, for example in Tibet, polyandry is still practiced today. In the past, it was a traditional form of marriage in that area (1950s). Her most common situation is when a woman takes brothers for husbands, the so-called fraternal polyandry. Much less often, several sisters had one husband. The formation of polyandric unions of the Tibetans was prompted by external factors, such as the desire to preserve all inherited lands in the family and the need for the highest possible yield from their crops, thanks to the labor force of all men in the family.

After enteringThe Chinese have been banned from polyandry towards Tibet, claiming that they are not moral. It has been found that children raised in such families are also harmed because fathers do not pay attention to them because of the insecurity of being a biological parent. After 1798, polyandry began to return to Tibet, and today it is practiced in rural areas (approx. 30-50%).
