They are easy to recognize: gaps appear between the teeth that have never been seen before. The tooth appears longer becausegumscontract until the root is visible. The gums are swollen, red and may bleed. After some time, the tooth loosens due to bone loss.

Periodontitis must be treated

When gingivitis begins to spread to the bone, it is called periodontitis, also known as periodontitis. This disease most often appears around the age of 30. Over 10 percent suffer from it. people in the world. The consequences are serious. With periodontitis, the bone surrounding the tooth may disappear. Then the so-called a pocket in which larger amounts of plaque accumulate. The toxins present in them gradually destroy the adjacent bone. A tooth surrounded by such a "disappearing" bone is easy to lose. At this stage, the disease progresses rapidly! Such a condition of the gums requires advanced treatment, incl. reconstruction of cavities in the bone with the use of special materials containing hydrophobic proteins. Currently, the most commonly used preparations are based on proteins obtained from pig tooth buds.

Important

Slight inflammation can be soothed with rinses with anti-inflammatory, astringent and antibacterial properties. These can be both ready-made preparations and self-prepared infusions of chamomile, sage, and cinquefoil rhizomes (they close blood vessels).

Neglected periodontitis increases the risk of heart disease, because during each inflammation, substances are released that thicken the blood, which accelerates the formation of blockages and affectsadversely on the functioning of the heart. The latest research also shows that periodontal diseases can increase the risk of cancer.

With periodontitis in the sanatorium

In some sanatoriums, incl. in Ciechocinek, Świnoujście, Busko Zdrój, special pressurized brine showers are applied to the gums.
