Itchy skin may be caused by a lack of proper hydration, irritation, insect bites, or an allergic reaction. Itching is also a symptom of many diseases, not only dermatological. What to do when the skin is very itchy?

The skin itches when it is cooler and after a bath

The itching of the skin in winter and on cooler days often worsens - this is the result of poor hydration, temperature changes, dryness in the rooms and the effect of wearing clothes made of irritating fabrics, under which we easily sweat.

A good body lotion, preferably an unscented emollient, will help you with such problems, taking care of airing and moisturizing the room in which you spend most of the time, and drinking plenty of fluids that will "moisturize" the skin from the inside.

If our skin itches after a bath, it may be the result of an allergy to the cosmetics used for washing, the chlorine contained in the water may also cause irritation. After washing, the skin often dries out and without applying cream it feels itchy and dry. For washing, it is worth using products that will moisturize and strengthen the skin instead of drying it.

If itching persists despite proper skin care, or if your skin starts to develop a rash or redness, consult a dermatologist. We should also be concerned about the intense peeling of the skin or the appearance of blisters filled with fluid.
