Hypnosis helps to get rid of addictions, heals neuroses and anxiety states. It is also actually the only effective way to lead patients out of anorexia and bulimia, as well as to eliminate phantom pains.

Hypnosisis controversial, although it has long been used for both entertainment and healing. The ancient Greeks believed that on the outskirts of the West, where the rays of dawn cannot reach, Hypnos - the god of sleep - lived. His bedroom was a cave with an ebony bed. He was soothed to sleep by the sound of the River of Oblivion, dreams were drifting around him, and the meadows were drowned in carpets of poppies and herbs.
The name of the god of sleep gave the name of hypnosis. We have long asked ourselves what is hidden under this name. And the answer? So far, it has not been possible to precisely formulate it and it does not seem that it will happen in the foreseeable future. And although the closest to the truth is the definition that treats hypnosis as "a dream-like state induced by the suggestion in which the will of the asleep is subordinated to the will of the sleeper," the luminaries of science prefer to speak of it as an undefined state.
Even when using modern methods diagnostic tests failed to investigate what processes take place in the brain of a hypnotized person (the electroencephalograph records are the same as during the waking state). Attempts to check whether any biochemical changes are taking place in the patient's body at that time have failed. There are also different opinions as to whether a person under hypnosis remains aware or is so passive that his actions can be freely controlled. So an equation with only the unknowns? Not necessarily, because it is known how to hypnotize the patient, who can do it and why, and who can be hypnotized.

Why hypnosis or rehab in a trance

It will not be difficult for someone who is constantly engaged in hypnosis to convince the hypnotized person that, for example, he sees or feels what is not there, hears something that is not heard, etc. But no sane hypnotherapist should allow himself to do so. jokes against any patient. It is permissible to use hypnosis for therapeutic purposes only.

It works well as a method supporting traditional treatments. Heals addicts - alcoholics, drug addicts, smokers (60% effectiveness). In tamingneurosesand statesfor anxiety disorders, up to 80% of positive results are achieved. Hypnoanalysis is also effective, i.e. a method popular in psychotherapy to search for hidden, unclear motives of the patient's actions, sources of his inhibitions or complexes. It is also practically the only effective method of bringing patients out of anorexia and bulimia, as well as of eliminating phantom pains that appear after amputations. In selected patients, hypnosis can be used to calm down, relieve pain or even anesthesia (when the patient is allergic).

Important

Not everyone is equally susceptible to hypnosis, although a small percentage of people are not affected by it. Susceptibility to hypnosis is assessed on a 30-point scale developed by two American psychiatrists - Davis and Husband.

  • Resistant ones, who can at most be relaxed, are rated 0 - 5 degrees.
  • The most desirable for therapeutic reasons is a state of light trance (6 -11 degrees), accompanied by slight numbness of the limbs and uncontrolled eye movement.
  • In medium trance (13 - 20 degrees), a person does not feel pain, he may feel his own body in an unusual way (e.g. it seems to me that it is light, stiff, flexible, etc.).
  • The scale from 21 to 30 degrees means a very deep trance in which reality is perceived in a completely unreal way. Because after awakening from the last two trances, a person does not remember what happened to him, the therapeutic usefulness of such deep hypnosis is poor.

Do you need a glass ball for hypnosis?

There are three ways to hypnotize the patient. The first (verbal) is that the doctor or therapist makes verbal suggestions about his he alth or well-being to the patient, who is in a state of deep relaxation (Alpha state). It is then easy to convince an addict to give up his harmful addictions. By using the second technique, the so-called The fixative hypnotherapist focuses the patient's attention on some moving, rhythmically moving object, for example a spinning lamp, a steadily rotating disc, a moving pendulum or a ball.
To use the third (fascinating) method, the therapist's above-average magnetic-hypnotic properties are indispensable. It is not true that he must have huge, bulging, black eyes, but the strength of their expression is important. This technique requires not only eye contact with the person who is being acted on, but also a strong concentration of the hypnotherapist on the patient's forehead (specifically his frontal lobes), during which the therapeutic energy transfer takes place. The first twoanyone can learn a technique, but without inborn predispositions, no one will be able to master the fascinating technique.

Who is hypnosis for?

Not everyone can undergo hypnotherapy. The condition of patients is a limitation - it must not be used in women in the first trimester of pregnancy. The mother's emotions may influence the developing nervous system of the child too much, and even, in extreme cases, contribute to the development of malformations.
It cannot be used in children under 14 years of age. Science has proven that the subcortical centers and cerebral lobes activated in such a small person (and this takes place in hypnosis) may threaten with unpredictable personality changes. So it may happen that a completely average child will suddenly wake up with some deeply dormant genius, but it may also happen that unexpectedly, unnoticeable, pathological character traits appear.
Hypnosis must not subject the mentally ill and who are depressed, suffering from epilepsy. It is also inadvisable to use it in blind people, because it disturbs their "inner vision" and may lead to unpleasant hallucinations.
It is also a fact that every hypnosis treatment is a source of very strong emotions and it is impossible to predict what reactions it will trigger. For this reason, it is worth following a few safety rules.

  • Hypnosis should not be de alt with by random people - if you care about your he alth, choose certified therapists, doctors, psychologists who see them in medical facilities, not in suspicious offices. Remember that unprofessional hypnosis experimentation can end up badly.
  • Sessions during which the hypnotist, recalling the delinquent's memory to the pre-birth period, try to discover his previous incarnations, as well as various types of courses organized to make participants aware of the power of the possibilities dormant in their minds, can be very dangerous.
