How to recognize mycosis of the scalp?

Fungal changes affect not only the scalp, but also the hair. If the perpetrator is dermatophytes of the genus Microsporum, large individual hairless foci are visible - they are usually broken at an equal height, just above the skin. Sometimes these bald patches are red, which indicates inflammation. Mycosis caused by fungi of the genus Trichophyton gives a different picture. These are numerous small foci of unevenly broken hair, which creates the effect of a trimmer (hence the name - shearing mycosis). An earthy scent of the scalp is characteristic. After healing, hair grows back.
