Travel sickness, sore throat and diarrhea often disrupt the summer rest. On holiday trails, you may also faint or sprain the joint. We must be prepared to deal with these he alth problems.
Accidentswalk on people. Before the holiday, it is worth finding out how to help if someone faints, poisoned or suffers frommotion sicknessand what to do in the event ofinjury . It is worth taking a well-equipped first aid kit with you, a concentrate replenishing electrolytes in case of diarrhea and vomiting or dehydration. And remember to pack a small set of dressings and disinfectants and an isotonic drink into your backpack when you go on a trip.
Dehydration
They are characterized by cramps and muscle pain, dry, chapped lips, a significant reduction in the ability to exercise, loss of skin elasticity and increasing headache. It is necessary to place or put the patient in a cool place, give him mineral-rich water or isotonic drink, preferably an irrigating mixture (you can buy a powdered mixture at a pharmacy).
Dislocation of the joint
This type of injury is the result of damage to joint ligaments that are overstretched, torn or completely ruptured. It is accompanied by pain and swelling. There is a bluish red discoloration around the joint, which indicates an internal stroke. The joint should be covered with a cold compress and then wrapped with an elastic bandage. If there are reasons to suspect a bone fracture, the limb must be immobilized in the position in which it remained after the injury, and the patient should be taken to the orthopedic emergency room without risk of movement. Warning! You must not try to adjust the joint yourself, especially if there is a suspicion of a broken bone.
Fainting
Sudden loss of consciousness (usually of short duration) is preceded by dizziness or the so-called drainage, or loss of contact with reality. Fainting is a defensive reaction in the body designed to protect the brain from additional oxygen loss. When we pass out, we unconsciously fall, thereby allowing more blood to reach the brain. A he althy person may faint from hunger, after considerable physical exertion, in hot weather, at the sight of blood or froma foul smell. A person who is faint should be placed so that the legs are higher than the head. When he regains consciousness, sweet juice or sugar water may be given to drink.
Sore throat
Throat problems are common in summer. Ice cream, cool drinks, drafts, and cold water baths can all cause colds or strep throat. When the throat starts to hurt, it is best to rinse it with baking soda (a teaspoon per glass of water), which has a strong anti-swelling effect, or table s alt. Relief will be brought by lozenges, as well as an aerosol, which has an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect. If the sore throat worsens, difficulty swallowing and temperature develop, seek medical attention.
Motion sickness
To avoid nausea, vomiting, headache, eat a light meal one hour before travel and take an anti-sickness drug such as synthetic Aviomarin, herbal Aviplant, Lokomotiv or the homeopathic Vertigoheel. If you give up eating, you have to drink a lot of cool mineral water in small sips while driving.
Traveler's diarrhea
It can be caused by changes in climate, water and food. Then a tablet, eg Imodium, Smecta sachet (to be dissolved in water) or 10-20 tablets of medicinal charcoal will help. When we take charcoal, it makes no sense to take other drugs because their effects will be neutralized. You should drink a lot - it can be still mineral water, chamomile, mint or lukewarm, weak and unsweet tea.
Food poisoning
It is most often evidenced by headache, abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea and increased temperature. If symptoms have occurred after eating meat, sausage, or canned meat, botulism may be suspected. It manifests itself after 12-36 hours with muscle weakness, headache, difficulty speaking, breathing and blurred vision. You can then provoke vomiting, but you should go to the hospital as soon as possible, because such poisoning can be fatal. With salmonella poisoning (infected eggs, milk, cheese, raw meat, ice cream, cream cookies), symptoms appear after 6-24 hours. The most common are cramping abdominal pain, chills, headache, vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and weakness. When vomiting stops, you need to rehydrate your body by drinking water without gas, warm tea or herbal infusions (mint, chamomile). If you suspect mushroom poisoning, you need to call an ambulance or go to the hospital.
