Isotope heart examination is safe, short, convenient and definitely cheaper than the ones used so far. After just 3 minutes, the doctor can see a three-dimensional image of the heart and its surroundings on the computer screen in excellent quality.

The Military Institute of Medicine in Warsaw launched the first new generation in Central and Eastern Europescannerhigh resolution for isotopeheart examination , for which the latest achievements of nuclear medicine were used in the creation.
-This device allows us to check the heart's condition in three minutes, e.g. in people aftera heart attackand with heart failure. It is especially useful when making difficult decisions about further treatment, says Prof. Mirosław Dziuk, head of the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Military Institute of Medicine.
In the Discovery scanner with Alcyone technology from GE He althcare:

  • the duration of the test has been reduced five times - to 3 minutes. This will eliminate the risk of blurry photos taken when the patient cannot stand still for 15 minutes.
  • the dose of radiation absorbed by the patient was reduced by half.
  • the doctor quickly obtains a three-dimensional image of the heart, much more accurate than from previously used devices.

- Today, nuclear diagnostics is the most effective method of early detection of heart diseases - concludes Brig Gen. dr hab. n. med. Grzegorz Gielerak, director of the Military Medical Institute.

What does the examination look like?

One hour before the examination, the patient is injected intravenously with a dose of a special substance that improves the image quality. When the substance reaches the heart - the heart can be scanned. For three minutes, the patient lies in a comfortable position, in his own clothes, and the scanner head rotates near his chest. You can go home immediately after the examination.
