There are many diseases that weaken the heart. His condition often worsens with age. How do you strengthen your heart and arteries? How to choose the right heart preparation from the wide range of over-the-counter remedies available in pharmacies?

There are many preparations supporting the work of the heart in pharmacies. You can take them, but the type and dosage of the preparation is best agreed with your doctor. This is important because many medications that we constantly take for heart or other conditions can interact with over-the-counter medications. For example, calcium contained in supplements weakens the effect of drugs from the beta-blocker group. Magnesium also weakens the effects of some medications used in high blood pressure.

Do you know what supports your heart?

The most for the heart we can do when we limit the consumption of animal fats and replace them with olive oil or good oil (e.g. rapeseed oil), quit smoking, find time to relax, rest and exercise. Practicing meditation, yoga or tai chi reduces the severity and frequency of coronary pains. The heart, and especially the arteries, will strengthen food:

  • fish rich in unsaturated fatty acids;
  • garlic;
  • nuts rich in antioxidants (Brazil nuts) and ellagic acid (walnuts).

To strengthen the heart, it is also worth eating vegetables and fruits, which - according to Harvard scientists - by nearly 40 percent. reduce the risk of heart disease. A diet rich in vegetables and fruits has a better effect on the he alth of the heart than the mere discontinuation of animal fat.

Important

It is true that ginseng stimulates the heart and has an anti-clotting effect. But be careful! People with too high blood pressure or suffering from heart disease should consult their doctor before taking the ginseng preparation, as it may raise the pressure. Since ginseng has an anticoagulant effect, it cannot be used by people suffering from hemophilia and other blood coagulation disorders. The sugar-lowering effect of ginseng is, in turn, a contraindication for people prone to hypoglycaemia.
