The Upper Silesian Center for Renewal and Rehabilitation MODERN - REH from Mysłowice took advantage of EU funds. Bought, among others innovative devices for diagnostics in rehabilitation.
- The equipment allows us to analyze the progress of neurological rehabilitation and many other diseases. It catches the electrical impulses that arise in our body when the muscles are tense. People after injuries are not even able to feel them, but they can still release them - says Marcin Szyca, one of the owners of the center.
The patient performs exercises with electrodes attached to specific parts of the body. Information on muscle tension allows you to choose the exercises that will best stimulate those parts of the muscles that require strengthening, and at the same time will not overload the others.
- At the center, we use many rehabilitation methods, including proprietary ones. Diagnostic equipment allows you to assess their effectiveness in a specific patient and significantly accelerate the treatment process - explains Marcin Szyca.
The center treats mainly people after accidents, with spinal cord injuries, after strokes and with cerebral palsy. Each time the patient and the therapist set themselves long and short-term goals - incl. coping with everyday life, getting dressed, moving in a wheelchair, dealing with physiological activities - urinary or faecal incontinence, improving fitness and learning to walk again. This allows them to take an active part in social life and return to professional work.
The investment in innovation has also influenced the competitiveness and uniqueness of the center itself. - Not only is the device innovative, but also our way of applying it, because we relied on the most modern research. We test the effectiveness of the therapy in real time, we get the return of information with the purposefulness of using a given method, and not only the depth of the deficit - explains Marcin Szyca.
The total value of the project is almost 404,000 zloty. The value of co-financing amounted to over PLN 221 thousand. PLN.
