Initially, I tried to run every day, not only to lose weight, but to develop a habit of exercise. With time, however, it became boring. How to avoid training boredom by running the same distances?
Nothing tires a runner as much as boring during training. The sightseeing nature of the cross-country trail is very important. The route will be interesting when it is unknown, when it surprises us with something and evokes emotions. The weather and the season of the year have a great influence on the running areas. Even the same places known to us look completely different. Juicy and fresh in spring, differently when covered with a carpet of multicolored autumn leaves, completely different when snow falls. Our brain does not like boredom, when there is nothing to analyze, not busy with the outside world, it focuses on the inner world, that is, on the effort we experience while running. This is when we remember about fatigue, that it is hard for us, we focus on faster and faster breathing and leg muscles. We remember about the slowly passing time, about the distance that we still have left, and we wonder if we will be able to survive until its end in the present condition. It is worth ensuring that our training is as varied as possible, not only to distract ourselves from constant thinking and analyzing the symptoms of fatigue, but also to run out of the house with joy and enthusiasm every day and swallow large doses of kilometers. The old route is fun to run, we have a sense of security, we know exactly where each stone lies, we can distribute our strength well. But sometimes you get fed up with it. How to make a known route so as not to get bored? It's easy, just look at the stopwatch in characteristic places (checkpoints). Current control of the running time helps us to judge the form, always gives food for thought, sometimes arouses emotions, especially when we did not expect that, for example, the pace of running today is fast or slow. The first time control point, on a known route, is worth setting after about 5-10 minutes of running, it is definitely worth having a checkpoint in the middle of the planned distance. By running from point to point, we can play with speed. Wondering if I can endure the second half at the same pace as the first and whether it will be a better result than a week ago, our brain is busy analyzing a lot of different information and forgets that we are running andwe get tired. Open spaces, e.g. a former training ground, routes that look like deserts to the horizon are a chore for our psyche. Let's look for closed spaces. Dense forest, park, urban jungle is a paradise for runners.
