Rolling and twisting requires good motor coordination, so beginners should learn to twist and turn after thoroughly mastering the basics. Watch the video in which the roller skating instructor, Michał Machowski, shows 5 ways to quickly corner and spin without losing speed.
How to learn to twist and turn on rollers? First of all, do not start learning if you are still not good at balancing your roller skates. Then, performing a technically complicated interlacing or rotation by jump may end in a painful fall. It is best to start learning how to turn and rotate when driving forward does not cause us any problems and we feel confident enough to move on to more technically advanced elements.
1. Turning on rollers: rotation by front wheels
This is the easiest way of trading that beginners should start with.
While driving, extend your left (or right) leg forward and lift the rear wheels of the rollers off the ground, pivot around your right (or, in the case of right leg, left) shoulder. As you turn, make a firm movement of your hips - push them first towards your back leg, then turn them 180 degrees.
For front-to-back rotation, do the same - put your left or right leg backwards, lift the tips of the shoes up and rotate around the shoulder on the side of the rear leg. In this case, the weight of the body is distributed over the heels.
2. Rotating on rollers: rotation by skip
The jump rotation technique is the same as for the front wheels rotation - the movement of the legs and hips is the same. The difference is that in the jump rotation, we tear all the wheels off the ground, not just the back ones.
3. Rotating on rollers: rotation through a semicircle
This is the most difficult variant of a turn that requires good motor coordination.
When driving, move one leg forward, e.g. right, shift your weight to the opposite side, and then back to your right leg. After turning 180 degrees, align the rollers parallel.

4. Roller twisting: Parallel (parallel) twist
Move your right or left leg forward (depending onwhich way you want to turn) and turn, putting all your weight on it. Keep a similar distance between the rollers. Remember about the correct body posture - feet, knees and shoulders should be in one line.
5. Roller twisting: interweaving
It is the fastest way to turn, but it requires quite a lot of skill in roller skating.
When approaching a bend, bring one leg forward, and then with that same leg, push yourself to the side. Bring the other leg diagonally forward, repeat the entire cross movement until you complete the entire turn.
