When going to the market or buying vegetables or fruit at street stalls, you should remember a few rules. First of all, if the outside temperature is high, it is better to consider buying. Why?
The heat harms plants - just like the sun's rays. Not all species need sun, but all species need light. Life processes take place in plants - they breathe, photosynthesis, growth, maturation and more. The heat and the sun's rays increase the intensity of the processes, and hence - the plant may age and wither faster. It can also rot (in high humidity) or develop diseases.
What to look for when shopping?
The products must be sheltered from the sun and possibly placed in the water. You should never buy something that is wrapped in air-tight foil. Lack of oxygen causes the product to ferment. Watch out especially for the broad beans.
If we buy products exposed to the sun at the market, they will deteriorate or rot faster. They can also be dried and without intense flavor. And this is not why we theoretically buy fresh vegetables or fruit.
Remember that cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, as well as zucchini or pumpkin can handle higher temperatures better. They won't break down quickly, but they are not well served by this temperature for a long time.
Rotten specimens?
If you notice rotten strawberries in the basket, it is better not to choose it. The reason is simple - the rotting process could have involved more strawberries. It also means that all strawberries may have been stored improperly.
The smell should also deter you from buying - it is noticeable, especially in the case of broad beans.
Bazarek?
It is better to buy in a store or in a market with trusted sellers. We advise you to avoid roadside stalls - it will be difficult to track the seller or the source of the products.
