Triathlon is an extremely exhausting sport that requires long preparation and very good physical condition. Not everyone can afford to participate in triathlon competitions, and yet more and more competitors start each year. Where is the growing popularity of the triathlon coming from? Find out the reasons.

Participation in thetriathlonis a great experience, and many amateur players dream about finishing the competition. Athletes participating in this discipline emphasize that the triathlon is attractive for several reasons, but the most frequently mentioned advantage is diversity. Training before the triathlon is not boring, because you take turns training swimming, running and cycling, and the preparations can also be adapted to the season, e.g. in the summer you cycle more, in the winter you visit the swimming pool more often, or you replace running with cross-country skis. In addition to the lack of boredom and monotony, the advantage of triathlon diversity is that it strengthens all parts of the muscles and increases efficiency.

Until recently, triathlon was considered a niche sport, practiced only by professional athletes. Mass interest began when celebrities, such as Tomasz Karolak, Borys Szyc and Piotr Adamczyk, became involved in the practice of this discipline. Within a few years in Poland, thousands of people started to take part in triathlon competitions.

Triathlonists - what distinguishes triathlon competitors?

Triathlon combines three sports disciplines: swimming, cycling and running. All this over long distances and in the shortest possible time. What kind of people are competing in such exhausting competitions?

Competitors can be divided into two categories: those who dream of reaching the finish line and those for whom only the result and a place on the podium count. They have one thing in common: a strong character, perseverance and pursuit of the set goal. They cannot be afraid of failure, but they have to train as if they are not going to come back from the competition without a medal.

Perseverance is one of the most important characteristics that should characterize a player. It is also a useful feature in everyday life. Competitors who take part in the triathlon emphasize that since they started training several disciplines at the same time, they are more open to problems in everyday life and are more flexible in solving them.

Practicing a triathlon is demanding and forces you to engage up to 6 times a week, but the coaches say that six months of intensive preparation is enough to not only start in the half of the Ironman distance (900 m swimming, 90 km by bike and 21, 1 km of run), but also finish it.

He alth benefits of a triathlon

The myths surrounding triathlon as a murderous and practically impossible sport are greatly exaggerated. The oldest competitor taking part in powerlifting in Hawaii, the most popular triathlon event in the world, was over 80 on the day of the start. In Poland, 20 and 70-year-olds compete with equal chances of winning. In Western Europe, even children play triathlon.

Those who train for competitions say that it is very hard at first, but with time everyday effort becomes essential to life. This is the reason why powerlifting is becoming more and more popular not only among professionals but also amateurs.

Triathlon as one of the few sports at individual stages involves all muscle groups, evenly distributing the effort. It is also one of the least injurious disciplines. Of course, an amateur competing in the Ultraman competition (10 km of swimming, 421 km of cycling, 84 km of running) will undoubtedly not cope with even the first stage, but the Olympic distance (1.5 km of swimming, 40 km of cycling, 10 km of running) is within the reach of every he althy person who evenly distributes workouts.

Triathlon - an extremely spectacular sport

Competitions on the longest distances require effort to the limit of endurance, and the observation of the competitors' struggles provides the viewers with strong impressions each time. Triathlon is an individual sport in which any cooperation between competitors is prohibited. Everyone works for their own result and life record. It is not without reason that the winner of the Hawaiian triathlon gets the title of IronMan, i.e. the Iron Man.
