A four-kilometer route leading through Krakow's Planty Park, several hundred participants, headed by the Polish Olympian - Robert Korzeniowski. Last Saturday, November 23, at sunrise, the VI Morning Run through the Krakow Planty took place, which traditionally accompanies the annual meeting of outstanding Polish cardiologists, i.e. the Preventive Cardiology conference. This is its sixth edition.
Where did the idea to organize the run come from? The aim is to promote regular physical activity independent of weather conditions. Physical activity of an intensity adjusted to the abilities of each person is promoted. Therefore, no time is measured during the race, nor are any prizes awarded for the fastest running distance. The organizers of the run emphasize that even in places where the quality of the atmospheric air is low in the autumn and winter months, you should not give up physical activity.
Olympic-style morning run
The run was attended by the inhabitants of Krakow, people who came to Krakow from other regions of the country, as well as cardiologists participating in the conference "Preventive Cardiology 2022". This year's edition was also joined by Robert Korzeniowski, a four-time Olympic champion and three-time world champion in sports walking.
The event was attended by up to twice as many people as in previous years. We certainly owe it to the participation of our excellent guest. Robert Korzeniowski did not actually run, but went - in the same style as when he won Olympic medals. Many participants followed him! - says prof. dr hab. n. med. Piotr Jankowski, chairman of the organizing committee of the conference "Preventive Cardiology" and initiator of the Run through the Planty Krakowskie.
By walking, we can bring the heart rate to a level of 120, 140 beats per minute and control it. Suddenly, we notice that the muscles of the buttocks, back, arms and … smile are activated because I feel that I can do more - explains Robert Korzeniowski.
The youngest participant was 3 years old
VI The Morning Run through the Planty Park began at 7:00 a.m., gathering almost four hundred people ready to jointly cover the distance of four kilometers, which is the exact length of the most famous park in Krakow. The youngest runner was three years old, andthe oldest - 82. The name of the event only seemingly imposes the formula of the start itself. The organizers point out that the most important thing is physical activity itself, which is why we also invite those who, depending on their condition or preferences, prefer to walk the route or go with Nordic walking poles.
The success of this year's edition motivates us to continue the tradition in the coming years. That is why the date of the 7th Morning Run through the Planty Park in Krakow has already been planned. In 2022, it will take place on November 21. As always at 7.00 am.
