A proposal for a 3-day hiking trip in the Silesian Beskids for intermediate skiers. The tourist route leads through Szczyrk, Wisła, Ustroń, Babia Góra and Skrzyczne. See the itinerary, times of passage of individual stages and suggestions of tourist attractions in the area.

It's inSilesian BeskidsAdam Małysz polished his ski form and Jerzy Pilch sharpened his pen. The Vistula, the queen of our rivers, flows from the top of this region, and the thong lace makers from Koniaków caused a lot of confusion. But that's not the only reason why it's worth coming to the Silesian Beskids.

Three places determine the rhythm of life in this part of Poland - Wisła, Ustroń and Szczyrk. In winter, they burst at the seams, because it is a Mecca for skiers. In summer, less crowded, they attract hikers and more and more often mountain biking enthusiasts. Because these places are the gates leading to peaks that are not so high again.

These are mountains for almost everyone, although perhaps the least thirsty for landscape views (many of the trails lead through forests). But there are no chasms, no cliffs, no climbing on clamps. Instead, there are cableways and berries as big as cherries.

Hiking plan in the Silesian Beskids

Route:Ustroń - Szczyrk, through Stożek, Barania Góra and SkrzyczneTime:3 days (two nights at the shelter)

Difficulty level:for a good walker (long sections)

Itinerary: day 1

  • Day 1:from Ustroń to Stożek
  • Time:approx. 7 hours or 5.5 hours

You start from Ustroń. It is one of the oldest towns in the Cieszyn region. You get (by bus or minibus) to Ustroń Polany and here you can choose the option for those who save energy for the rest of the way, i.e. enteringCzantoriaby chairlift (recommended!) Or for the durable ones, i.e. a 2-hour hike up the hill. Pretty boring and monotonous. The lift will take you straight to the clearingStokłosica . The journey takes several minutes.

There is a buffet at the top of the funicular. It is worth standing on the terrace and looking at the mountains: you will see the entire Silesian Beskids (where you are going!), Beskid Mały and Żywiecki. You still have half an hour to Czantoria. The road is wide and gently climbing.

You are now descending a rather steep rocky road. After a dozen or so minutesyou leave the forest into the open space. You walk among meadows and fenced fields. After defeating the breakneck descent, you will reach the Światowid private shelter. Further on, the road runs almost horizontally, but just after the pass you start a short ascent toMały Soszów(762 m above sea level). After a dozen or so minutes you reach the shelter.

You are going to the summitSoszów Wielki(886 m above sea level). The route is quite steep (you can get tired!). On the way, you pass Zagroda Lepiarzówka (a hotel, a highlander inn and a covered grill). Meal break! From the top of Soszów Wielki you will see a beautiful panorama of the Vistula area with Barania Góra. We will also see the purpose of our journey today -Cone .

You are reachingCieślar(918 m above sea level). This is another great point. The views are really breathtaking. You reachMały Cone(843 m above sea level) first, and thenWielki Cone(half an hour really exhausting!). The hostel on Stożek is considered to be the oldest in this part of the Beskids. Beautifully located, on the edge of the clearing, near the top, it is a paradise for those seeking a view. It's over for today.

Itinerary: day 2

  • Day 2:to the sources of the Vistula River
  • Time:approx. 6 hours (7 with a break in Kubalonka)

It is best to set off in the morning, because the road is long, although not too tiring. The trail continues along the ridge. After a dozen or so minutes of walking, you will reach interesting rocks. This is one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the vicinity of the Vistula River! You will reach theKubalonkapass (along the WisłaIstebna road) in about 1.5 hours. Here you can take a meal break. There is a lot to choose from, there are also highlander taverns and small shops.

From Kubalonka after approx. 15 minutes. you come to the passSzarcula . You walk along a wooded ridgeBeskidkaand you pass a sandstone rock wall. After about 45 min. you come to a clearingStecówka . There is a small church nearby. You enter the forest and after an hour you go down to the Czarna Wisełka Valley. The Czarna Wisełka flows along it, which flows from the slopes of Barania Góra. This stream joins the Biała Vistula (also having its source on the Barania slope), creating the Vistula. After a 300-meter hike uphill, you will still have a lot of effort, but the last effort of the day - a steep climb along a forest path to the shelter atPrzysłop . That's it for today!

Itinerary: day 3

  • Day 3:to Szczyrk through Barania and Skrzyczne
  • Time:6 hours (or 5 hours when we take the lift)

You will start the day sharply - from the shelter to the top of Baraniaat first you climb quite steeply through the clearing, then gently - through a wide forest clearing. It will take you approx. 1 hour.Barania Góra(1220 m.n, p, m) everyone knows! After all, everyone has learned that the Vistula flows from under this peak. The top itself is absolutely… invisible. Hidden in the forest and completely devoid of views. This drawback is not made up for by a beautiful tower, but it allows you to see something.

From the top we walk through the woods through the saddle aboveRoztoczonym ,Magurka Wiślańska(1129 m above sea level),Green Moundand you come toMalinowska Rock . After an hour you are onSkrzyczne . (1257 m above sea level). It is the highest peak of the Polish part of the Silesian Beskids. One of the highest mountain shelters in the Beskids operates on its slope. The lift to the top has two stages. The lower section is 1680 meters, the upper - 1181 meters. In 25 minutes you can cover the difference of 813 meters.

It is not far from Skrzyczne toSzczyrk . Again, you have two variants of the road to choose from. If you are tired, take the lift, when you still have the strength (or no cash) - you go down (approx. 1.5 hours).

You need to climb (or drive):

  • to Skrzyczne (because it is the highest mountain here)
  • on Barania Góra (because everyone knows it!)

Must see:

  • Vistula: the city of Adam Małysz (even from above)
  • place where the Vistula comes from (you know!)

Worth visiting:

  • Enter Szyndzielnia (because … a city bus will take you to its foot)
  • In Szczyrk, visit Góralska Chata (because there is a handprint of Pudzian's hand there - you can try it on your own!)
