The opening of the ski lift over Szczawnik, a hamlet of Muszyna, extended the skiing values of the station previously known as Wierchomla. Now it is Dwa Doliny Muszyna-Wierchomla, a resort that allows skiers to slide down both sides of the mountain and connects two towns.

New slopes andSzczawnik ski liftare located almost at the very end of the village of Szczawnik, lying by the stream of the same name. The lower station of the four-person chairlift is located in a valley that cuts deep into the southern slopes of the Jaworzyna Krynicka range in the Beskid Sądecki range. The lift is 1525 meters long, and the difference in level between the lower and upper stations is just over 270 meters.

Szczawnik: ski runs for beginners and intermediate skiers

The upper station of the chair is located on a vast clearing (it has a little airflow on the chair): we can see the ridges descending from the Jaworzyna massif, and in the distance the gentle embankments of the Low Beskids and the Dubny and Zimny ranges. The road leading to Muszyna winds below, nicely lit after dark.

The slope is quite narrow, but only the natural shape of the terrain allows it. The route at the top is almost completely flat. In heavy snow, you have to push off with sticks to reach the bend in the terrain, which also changes the nature of the slope: here it becomes medium difficult to flatten again when reaching the bottom station of the cable car.

The chair for this slope (Szczawnik I) goes quite fast: it takes 5.5 minutes to cover the 1.5-kilometer route. The lift has a large capacity, which means that it takes skiers faster, before most of them manage to go down. It is therefore quite crowded on the narrow slope, even when there are no chairs at the bottom of the line.

The Szczawnik I chairlift is continued with the Szczawnik II ski lift. The lift is approx. 1070 m with a difference in levels of just over 100 m. This means that it is quite flat here, but with a view that opens to the opposite side of the ridge: in nice weather we will see a panorama of the Tatra Mountains.

The drive up here will take 5 minutes. From the upper ski lift station, we can get to the slopes of Wierchomla. We use all ski equipment on the basis of one pass.

All new routes are lit, artificially snowed, well maintained. The ski slope along both ski lifts in Szczawnica is three kilometers long, which means that it is one of the longest in Poland.

Szczawnik: the tourist base is still being developed

The gastronomic facilities are trying to keep up with the good ski infrastructure. On the slope, a restaurant could be useful at the upper chair station, on a wide, panoramic clearing. Maybe someday. You can eat only downstairs in modest booth-bars in the open air. From the wind and cold, we hide in a tent with good food and live highlander music. The food, however, is extremely expensive for these conditions.
