What is yoga beat?

In training, everyone practices yoga at a different pace - in accordance with their mood and temperament.

Karolina Erdmann, the originator of the yoga beat, first started with training yoga strala, an exercise system developed by Tara Stiles, a model and yogi. Strala yoga is based on the freedom and smoothness of the movements made - the sequences are dynamic, and the practitioners do not freeze in their poses, but constantly move in accordance with the rhythm of their breathing and at the pace of very energetic music.

Karolina Erdmann first watched Tara Stiles' films on the Internet, then decided to quit her job and enroll in a course she was running in New York. She was fascinated by the possibilities offered by this discipline, as well as the fact that everyone can interpret it in their own way. So she decided to create a similar style of yoga based on her experience - this is how the yoga beat was created.

Here are the characteristic features of this type of exercise:

  • yoga beat is the interweaving of yoga poses with dance movements, as well as ( although to a lesser extent) classic fitness exercises;
  • yoga beat classes are held to the rhythm of energetic music: movement and music are to be harmonized, so the soundtrack is always adapted to the pace of the class;
  • exercises take place to the rhythm of various musical styles: hip-hop, r'n'b and even lyrical pieces;
  • yoga beat is devoid of elements of meditation - the main emphasis is on physical activity;
  • muscles during classare shortened and stretched thanks to strength and stretching exercises;
  • during yoga beat training, weights are not lifted;
  • yoga beat is not about the so-called burnout of the body (use of all energy resources and use of its reserves) - this style is about working with the body and doing what you want;
  • during the classes barefoot is practiced to better stretch the spine.

Strala yoga

Yoga Beat is inspired by Strala Yoga, a more dynamic form of traditional yoga. Strala yoga was founded in 2008 in New York. During classes, as in yoga beat, yoga poses are used, and the exercises are accompanied by music. Strala yoga combines three elements: Strong, Relax and Energize. During each of them, the following exercises are performed in different proportions:

  • stretching (dominant in the Energize part) - make the body supple;
  • endurance (dominant in the Strong part) - they strengthen not only the body, but also the will;
  • breathing (dominant in the Relax part) - consists in practicing deep breathing, allowing you to relax.

On the internet you can find many videos with the strala yoga exercises presentedby its originator, Tara Stiles.

Yoga beat effects

During yoga beat training, all muscles work, thanks to which the silhouette becomes slimmer, and at the same time shapely and elastic. As the class maintains a balance between relaxing and shortening the muscles, the body regains harmony and tensions disappear. Yoga beat does not burden the joints and is a non-injurious discipline. It uses traditional yoga poses that massage the internal organs. Systematic participation in yoga beat classes allows you to lose weight and tone the most problematic parts of the body (abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms). Yoga beat also works on the skin - performing the head-back position oxygenates it, which can be seen on our face, which becomes radiant.

Yoga beat also has a positive effect on the mind. Music accompanying the exercises to evoke emotions and make the participants forget for an hour about everyday problems and duties. Exercises are meant to be an excuse to express yourself through movement and help you feel better and relax. They let you calm down and at the same time give you energy.
