After months of hesitation and dilemmas, we decided to sign up for the gym. And here is the first problem: which fitness club should you choose? Here are some basic tips to eliminate the worst spots.
First of allfitness clubshould be clean. It is easy to say at first glance, so there is no point in writing. It is quite obvious to ask the staff to show you the changing rooms and showers. If it's clean there and we don't smell any bad smell, we can move on to the next point of our private test.
First, let's take a look at all the machines and devices. We don't need to know what they are for. This will tell us latertrainer . For now, let's check if they are well-kept, preserved and in good condition. By the way, it is worth considering the size of the room. Is it too tight, are the exercisers free to move and are there too many exercisers (so it's best to go for the rush hour inspection, usually between 5 and 7 pm).
How to choose a good gym: qualifications of trainers
Another point of our little test is service. People at the receptiongymshould be nice and tell you in great detail about all the possibilities of the club. However, the qualifications of the trainers are much more important. Before signing up to a gym, it is necessary to check whether the coaches work there, and if so, at what times. If we can count on the care of a specialist at the time when we are going to exercise, we should talk to him before buying the subscription. A good trainer will ask us about the purpose of the exercises, the time we have, general condition and state of he alth, and then propose a program tailored to our abilities. If we decide that the proposed exercises suit us, it is worth making an appointment immediately that he will work with us at least in the first period, showing us exactly how to perform individual exercises and explaining what muscles we exercise.
It would be ideal to buy exercises with a trainer (some gyms offer it for an additional fee), because he is then only at our disposal and can explain everything to us exactly. However, if we do not decide on such a solution, it is worth determining in advance how intensively he can look after us. Of course, he will have to answerquestions and requests from other exercisers. But sometimes it is even worth making an appointment with the trainer during less traffic hours, so that he has more time for us. The sooner we learn to perform the exercises properly, the sooner we see the results and the lower the risk of injury will be.
How to choose a good gym: trial classes
Good gyms give potential clients the opportunity to practice exercises before they decide to buy a subscription. It is often free admission. It is worth asking about this possibility. Season tickets are usually relatively expensive, and it is not worth associating with a company that does not meet our expectations.
And finally, one more piece of advice: always listen to your friends. If someone you trust is recommending a club, it's worth checking out first. Having a good impression from the regulars is priceless and can save us painful disappointments.
