Salsation is a combination of functional training and various dance styles from the hottest parts of the world - salsa, reggae, samba, flamenco and many others. Salsation is designed not only to stimulate the body, but also to relax the mind and deal with the accumulated stress. Each choreography is a separate story that provides an opportunity to show your emotions and express yourself through movement.

Salsation is a combination of the words "salsa" and "sensation". Contrary to appearances, the first part of the name does not mean the name of a Cuban dance, but corresponds to the Spanish word "sauce" - because salsation is a spicy mixture of dance styles and sounds from all over the world. "Sensation" in turn can be translated as "feeling", "sensation", because the activities engage both the body and the mind.

The creator of the training is Alejandro Angulo - a dancer and choreographer from Venezuela. His dance breaks records of popularity in Asia, and has recently found its way to Europe and the USA. Also in Poland, more and more fitness clubs offer salsation classes, and the number of professional instructors is also growing (to conduct workshops, you must have completed a special course).

Salsation - what are the classes like?

The aim of salsation, as its creator Alexandro Angulo explains himself, is to increase the awareness of the participants' bodies and to develop their musicality. Through the sensual movements of Latin American rhythms, dancers learn to use their bodies to express emotions and interpret music.

Training begins with an isolated warm-up. It consists in warming up the individual parts of the body in turn, from top to bottom. The movements performed resemble strange words-flourishes, which are designed to prepare individual muscles for further effort and introduce participants to the atmosphere of the classes.

Then the instructor presents to the audience the sequences of movements that make up the dance choreographies. Some steps resemble those known from salsa, zumba or flamenco classes. Each choreography is a separate story told for a different song - for example, about the power of love that gives you wings and soars, or about an exhausting fight with yourself. There aren't many jumps or complicated jerky movements - salsation isn't about showing offefficiency, but get carried away by the element of dance and derive pure pleasure from it.

Salsation and zumba - how is it different? Which classes to choose?

Salsation and zumba are very close to each other because both types of activities are a combination of dance and fitness training. However, there is an important difference between them: in zumba, the most important thing is physical fitness, while salsation also teaches how to interpret music through movement. So it is a more comprehensive training, but also less physically demanding.

If we expect a lot of fun from the classes, but also want to lose a few kilos - choose a zumba. If we are looking for something more than just movement in dance, we want to use it to express ourselves better - salsation will be a better choice.

Salsation - training effects

Salsation has a fantastic effect on condition and physical fitness, and at the same time does not burden the body. It is an ideal solution for people who want to move around for recreation 2-3 times a week, keep their body in good shape and give themselves energy. It is a type of functional training, i.e. one that, by imitating everyday activities, affects general fitness, creates balance and increases body awareness. Salsation training also increases flexibility, flexibility and agility, and also prevents injuries - both during the dance itself and during everyday activities.

In addition, salsation has a positive effect on the mental condition. It can be said that this is a kind of psychotherapy through movement, because the presented choreographies serve not only to improve fitness, but also to deal with bad emotions. Salsation - how to dress for classes?

For Salsation classes, it is worth choosing a light, comfortable outfit that will not restrict movement. But that doesn't mean you should wear a plain white t-shirt and black leggings - to feel more sexy as you dance, wear low-rise harem pants that will accentuate the movement of your hips. If you don't have any complexes, uncover your stomach or wear a sports bra. If you want to hide this part of the body - a loose sleeveless t-shirt will be good. It is very fashionable to put on two layers of shirts: the bottom one, which is closer to the body, and the outer, looser one, preferably in a vivid color.

Avoid long pants withflared bottom that is easy to step on. Don't wear poor-quality sneakers that you wear on a daily basis - choose good fitness footwear with non-slip soles instead.

And most importantly - dress colorfully! Salsation is all about fun and energy, so adjust your outfit to the atmosphere in the classroom.
