Often, adolescents try drugs under the influence of their environment, without realizing what kind of havoc they can wreak in their bodies. How do popular drugs work - marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine, ecstasy, or hallucinogenic mushrooms? How can I tell if my child is taking drugs?
Young people often try drugs while on vacation. It is favored by breaking out of parental control and making new acquaintances. Usually, they then use various relaxing agents - from marijuana to heroin.
Among school and student youth,drugsstimulants likeamphetaminesthat give a "kick". The problem affects children from families considered pathological as much as those from the so-called good houses.
Relaxing drugs: marijuana, hashish, heroin
- Marijuana(brown-green dried leaves resembling herbs, roasted in twists) and hashish (brown and black balls, cubes, thin stripes, mainly for smoking).
Action: euphoria, relaxation, bouts of laughter, chuckling, talkativeness, increased appetite, bloodshot eyes, sometimes withdrawn, silence.
Long-term taking: decreased concentration, bronchitis, laryngitis, asthma, depression, anxiety and psychosis. - Heroin (white or beige powder from which the injection solution is made) and its varieties: brown sugar (a brown, pink or beige substance resembling sugar, smoke is most often inhaled), the so-called compote (injectable light or dark brown sweet-smelling liquid).
Action: relaxation, narrowed pupils and no reaction to light, glassy eyes, decreased appetite, vomiting and nausea at the first doses, drowsiness. Even single use can lead to liver damage, HIV infection, jaundice, coma, and overdose death. - Sedatives and hypnotics (orally or injected after dissolution).
Action: in small doses a feeling of relaxation, in large doses - drowsiness and a state like after intoxication.
Long-term ingestion: deterioration of he alth, decreased intellectual abilities, high risk of overdosing leading to coma and death.
Stimulant drugs: amphetamines and cocaine
- Amphetamine (white or beige powder,tablets, capsules).
Action: energy surge, mood improvement, increased activity, willingness to work, study, insomnia, lack of appetite, dilated pupils, increased heart rate and breathing, reddening of the skin, anxiety, fatigue and sleepiness in the final phase of action.
Long-term taking: depression, suicidal thoughts, coma, death. - Cocaine (crystalline white powder, sniffed, injected, ingested, smoked with other drugs).
Action: sense of strength, non-criticism, talkativeness, hyperactivity, dilated pupils.
Long-term taking: depression, suicidal thoughts, delusions, anxiety, impotence, unconsciousness, overdose death.
Hallucinogenic drugs: ecstasy, LSD, hallucinogenic mushrooms, glues and solvents
- Ecstasy (white or colored pills with embossed patterns, powder, capsules, taken orally).
Action: acute perception of colors, sounds, inadequate sense of strength, hyperactivity, lack of appetite. Even a single use can lead to irreversible changes in the brain, kidney and liver problems, death due to blocking signals that allow the brain to control the functioning of the body. - LSD (tissue papers with prints, colored "lighter pebbles", tablets and capsules, to be taken orally).
Action: hallucinations (e.g. seeing sounds, hearing colors), falling into extreme emotions, visual hallucinations, anxiety, dilated pupils.
Long-term taking: severe depression, delusional states. - Hallucinogenic mushrooms (yellow to black with brown lumen, dried or raw, eatable).
Effect: hallucinations, distorted perception of time and space, dilated pupils, mood changes, isolation from reality , mystical experiences, fear. You never know how they will work, risk of fatal poisoning. - Adhesives, solvents (for inhaling vapors).
Action: hallucinations, sneezing, coughing, conjunctivitis, speech disorder, aggression, anxiety.
Long-term taking: damage to lungs, liver, brain, heart failure, coma, death by suffocation.
