Communicate with your baby while you are still pregnant. Properly selected music has an impact on both fetal life and the further development of the child. Babies can hear from the 4th month of pregnancy, and the more different sounds they hear, the better their hearing will be developed and they will learn to speak more easily
More and more mothers come to the Warsaw Audio-Psycho-Phonology Center. They come to learn how to communicate with the unborn child and prepare for childbirth. Aural training is known in many countries around the world, it is still a novelty in Poland. Its creator is a French otolaryngologist, neurologist and phoniatrist, professor Alfred Tomatis. He proved that hearing is not the same as listening. Hearing depends on the condition of the hearing organ, while listening is a skill that develops throughout our lives. - You can learn to listen thanks to properly selected music - says Małgorzata Szurlej, a psychologist from the Center, which spreads the Tomatis method in Poland. And he argues that it is worth it, because those who can listen have a sense of rhythm and are able to concentrate.
Mom, I can hear it!
Why is auditory training recommended for pregnant women? It used to be considered that a child is born deaf and begins to hear only a few weeks after its birth. Today we know that a toddler can hear from the 4th month of gestation. The more different sounds he can hear, the better his hearing will be and the easier he will learn to speak. Why? We all have the same auditory potential, but if we do not use a frequency band or sound from the beginning, it will not appear in speech (an example is the Japanese, who do not distinguish between "l" and "r" sounds). Therefore, the expectant mother should listen to a lot of music, sing and read aloud to the child. Proponents of the Tomatis method claim that the ear should be stimulated by the so-called good listening. High sound quality and a wide range of frequencies can be found especially in Mozart's music and Gregorian chants. The latter have a rhythm similar to the natural respiratory rhythm of the human body. They relax and teach how to breathe properly. Professor Tomatis also pointed to the surprising relationship of the rhythms found in Mozart's music with the heartbeat of a fetus in the womb. However, the child should not be exposed tounpleasant sounds. It is important to avoid loud concerts, standing in front of loudspeakers, being in rooms with continuous, rumbling noise. Persistent low sounds, e.g. the humming of computers turned on, are harmful to the baby.
Worth knowingBefore a baby is born, three parts of his ear - outer, middle, and inner - are acoustically tuned to the same frequencies - the frequencies of the water. They are located above 8000 HZ. After birth, the first two levels of the baby's ear (outer and middle) must adjust to the air environment, while the inner ear remains in the aquatic environment.
Listen and sing
The most important aid in auditory attention training is the "electronic ear" - the ideal model of the human ear. The camera records and filters sounds. Future mothers put on headphones and listen to a tailored individual program. In this way, they develop correct listening habits. While listening, you can lie down and even fall asleep (according to psychologists, sleep does not reduce the effectiveness of the method). The first stage of training is 2 hours of listening a day for 15 days. Then, for a month, my mother does exercises at home. He works on voice production, exercises the ear muscles by tensing the facial muscles. After a month, training again includes two hours a day of listening to music. What is the purpose of this science? The baby will learn to speak by imitating the mother's voice and pronunciation, so the way she speaks influences the development of her speech. Easier birth When Professor Tomatis installed "electronic ears" at the maternity clinic, it turned out that births became shorter and easier. Women relaxed with music complained less of pain. Also, the number of cesarean sections decreased, and more correct positions of the fetus were observed - head down. The infant mortality rate has dropped to zero. Will Mozart's music or Gregorian chants soon be heard from the loudspeakers in every Polish delivery room? Even if not, it is definitely worth listening to at home. And probably not only before the birth.
According to an expertDr. Beata Kociemba, member of the Association of Aesthetic Dermatologists and the European Society of Dermatology ESCAD.I heard about professor Tomatis while studying in Paris. I went through aural training; He helped me a lot, and the professor fascinated me. Later, I worked with him for several years. I saw how many different benefits come from listening to Gregorian chants and Mozart's music. Pregnant women had easier births and their babies developed better after they were born. In the end, I decided to spread this method in Poland. InDepending on how the mother will use her voice, how she will communicate with the baby, his auditory attention will develop so efficiently. It is worth including dad in the listening sessions. Children who have undergone training can easily recognize the pitch of the sound later and quickly catch the rhythm. They are also more sensitive.
