My ex-boyfriend demanded a DNA paternity test in court. I agreed because I was sure he was the father. A saliva swab was taken from the cheek for the examination. My test result came recently and I was shocked! It was found that the biological paternity of the alleged father is excluded. There was a fragment mismatch for at least eight of the fifteen genotype compresses tested for the child and putative father. Does that mean the result is 100% negative? What is the reliability of the test? Maybe there was a mistake? Can I order further tests? If the result is still negative, then which side will pay for the tests? I don't work and I don't have any income. I am also afraid that if he is not the father, his predecessor may be one, but it is unlikely. What should I do in this case? I am asking for help, I care about time. Regards.

DNA testing now routinely performed to establish paternity is very reliable.

As for further proceedings, e.g. determining the indications for repeated examination, performing the examination at the other partner or matters related to payment for examinations - please contact the forensic medicine institution and, of course, the court.
