Diseases can be treated remotely - this is already known for sure. Unfortunately, they can also be induced at a distance … It often happens thanks to modern technology - we are susceptible to suggestions coming from television and the Internet. The psyche has a huge impact on the he alth of the whole organism.
In the 1980s, psychologists discovered the phenomenon of "suicide contagiousness". This was most clearly evident after thesuicideMarilyn Monroe. Under the influence of the media hype caused by her tragic death, at least 198 people, mostly young women, took their own lives.
Psychology and diseases: contagious suicide
How is it possible for someone to "contract" suicide from a distance? It is possible in direct contact. For example, in suicide families, the probability of death by one's own hand is higher than in other families. It is similar with suicides at school - when a student attempts suicide, some of his peers (especially classmates) will also start thinking about suicide. Unfortunately, the thoughts of death can also be infected from a distance and sometimes it becomes epidemic, such as after death Marilyn Monroe. However, the spread of the 'death virus' does not require direct human contact, as is the case with the flu epidemic. What carries the "suicide bug" is the media.
Researchers have found that when someone's suicide is publicized, the number of suicides increases up to ten times the "normal". The greater the reach of the media and the longer the topic is covered, the more deaths will be made.
Why is suicide contagious? We often treat the behavior of famous people as a model, "instruction" for our own behavior. Through observation, we learn how to "should" respond in the event of life difficulties, unhappy love, bankruptcy, etc. Therefore, when a famous person is killed, many people begin to consider suicide as an acceptable way to deal with their own problems.
Psyche and disease: you can also get infected with he alth
Fortunately, he alth can also be passed on from a distance thanks to the mechanisms of imitation. Researchers found that when the president's wife publicly discloses herdisease- for example, that she suffers from cancercervix - the number of women who report for Pap smear checkups is rapidly growing.
The media contributes not only to modeling sick behaviors, but also pro-he alth ones. The newspapers we read and the TV programs we watch have their share in how we treat our own he alth, take care of ourselves, or, for example, engage in risky and dangerous activities.
Of course, we do not imitate all famous people to the same degree. Most often, we repeat the behavior of people to whom we are similar in some way. The President's statement affects primarily women who can identify with her - e.g. they have a similar age, interests, style of dress, etc.
The psyche and diseases: treatment with hypnosis
Grigory Rasputin was ahealerand at the same time a gray eminence at the court of Tsar Nicholas II. He won the tsarina's trust because no one but him was able to stop the nose bleeds of her son Alexius Romanov, suffering from hemophilia (his blood was slowly clotting). Thanks to his hypnotic skills, Rasputin put the boy into a trance and then made suggestions to stop the bleeding. Today we know that such "miraculous" physiological changes (eg, contraction of the capillaries in the nose, which stops bleeding) are possible under the influence of hypnosis. Rasputin stopped the Tsarevich's bleeding at least once by talking to him only on the phone (patented 30 years earlier). During this conversation the boy's bleeding stopped completely and, reassured, he fell asleep. The nose hemorrhage was obstructed despite the lack of direct contact between the doctor and the patient.
Hypnosis can stimulate many he althy responses. For example, improve the functioning of the body's immune system, relieve pain, relieve stress, etc. The key here is hypnotic induction, which can be transmitted over a distance, e.g. by telephone (as Rasputin did), a book (when reading an interesting article or novel, we are in a shallow hypnotic trance) or television. This is used by popular charismatic TV hypnotists such as, for example, Anatoly Kaszpirowski.
Treatment with hypnosis, and also at a distance, is a controversial method. Skeptics would also say that even if someone's well-being does improve after a hypnotic TV screening, it does not have to be evidence of the program's effectiveness. If a large group of people watch any program, some people must experience a spontaneous improvement in well-being, and others a deterioration. It is the natural order of things - diseases “alone withthemselves "weaken or develop. It turns out, however, that the improvement in well-being after the performances of some hypnotists takes place in more people than it would only appear by chance.
The psyche and diseases: the impact of television on he alth
The influence on the state of the organism from a distance was also found in studies on the influence of television. People who spend at least 3 hours a day watching TV have a higher sense of danger than others: they expect the world to be more dangerous, that events such as fire and plane crashes are more likely than they are. They are also convinced that criminals (thieves, rapists, murderers) threaten a normal person to a much greater degree than they really are.
Television distorts the perception of the world, presenting it in a distorted mirror - rare events are often mentioned, so they seem to be more common. Frequent watching TV (e.g. news) translates into an increased sense of threat and the level of experienced stress. The tangible effect of such deformed beliefs is higher blood pressure!
Psychics and diseases: watch comedies and educational programs on TV
Can this relationship be "reversed", and instead of a disease, improve he alth condition remotely? Yes, yes. One example is watching comedies - after watching them, viewers feel more relaxed, less anxious, and more substances circulating in their blood responsible for successfully dealing with infections and infections. Comedies improve the body's immune capacity!
Pro-he alth changes are also triggered by educational programs. Sociologists have found that a sense of understanding the world we live in clearly translates into better coping with stressful situations. For if we understand what is happening around us, we also have a sense of control over unfavorable events. Stress is therefore subjectively less toxic, because understanding the situation gives a person a sense of influence over it.
This means that education, watching educational programs, etc., will extend your life! This is confirmed by research - statistically speaking, people who study longer (e.g. study) also live longer.
The psyche affects the whole body
It may seem strange that he alth and disease depend not only on biology, but also on other factors (e.g. the number and quality of TV programs watched). This surprise stems from the belief that human he alth is primarily influenced by biological factors (viruses, bacteria, poisoning, genes, injuries, etc.). That's why we areConvinced that the best ways to stay he althy are biological activities - good nutrition, exercise, medication, surgical interventions, dialysis, etc. However, this biological understanding of the roots of he alth and disease is increasingly archaic in the light of accumulated knowledge. Human he alth is greatly influenced by non-biological factors - mental condition, lifestyle, what we dream about, the nature of the people we spend with every day, as well as films, newspapers, and TV programs that we watch. Research shows that biology is not an important pathogen in as many as two thirds of patients (approx. 70%)! One consequence of this is that he alth and disease can spread over a distance. Information has an effect on our body similar to that of bacteria or viruses. Good news works like medicine.
