When we live with a bedridden patient, we must learn to properly care for him. How to deal with the physiological problems of a bedridden patient? How to organize the daily toilet for a bedridden person?
Caring for the bedridden persontakes both time and patience. Peoplechronically illmay require help not only in everyday activities, but also in care.
Problems with the physiology of the bedridden
Peoplechronically illmay have a problem with urinary and faecal incontinence. Therefore, a disposable waterproof sheet or underlay should be placed on the mattress.
There are also gummed flannel underlays that are machine washable. Once a month, as part of the NHF reimbursement, the patient can buy 60 pieces of hygiene products, e.g. diaper pants or anatomical diapers. This right is only granted to insured persons after confirmation by a doctor. Panties, anatomical diapers, urological inserts and diapers for children are reimbursed. The payment is 30 percent.
People who control their physiological needs, but have problems with moving, use the swimming pool and the so-called ducks. Pedestrians should be encouraged to use the normal toilet, which can be fitted with grab handles to make it easier to sit in and out of the toilet.
The toilet seat cover may also be useful, thanks to which it will be higher than usual. Another solution is a sanitary chair, which has a toilet seat instead of a seat, and a waste container underneath it. An excellent idea is a sanitary wheelchair, which you can drive directly onto the toilet seat. Whenever possible, let us use such solutions so that the patient can perform the most intimate activities on their own. This is of great importance for his psyche.
Bedridden toilet daily
Cleanliness and daily care promote recovery. A person who can walk is best bathed in a tub. You can hang a special bench on its edges, and cover the bottom with an anti-slip mat. If we have a paddling pool, put a sanitary chair in it so that the patient can sit while washing.
We wash lying people in bed. About the showit is best to ask a he alth visitor to arrange such a toilet, who will advise you on how to arrange the patient's body so as not to cause pain and what to do in order not to damage your own he alth. During the day, you can wipe the patient's skin with wet wipes soaked in lanolin or chamomile extract (e.g. for baby care).
