Mycosis, warts, scabies and head lice mainly affect preschool children. If you notice disturbing skin changes or uninvited guests in your toddler's hair, see a dermatologist who will prescribe the appropriate medication or treat them with liquid nitrogen.

Grzybica ,kurzajki ,scabiesczylice can become a problem for yourchild , because even the most polite children will eat unwashed fruit or borrow some personal item from a friend. You don't have to wait long for the consequences. If one of the preschoolers has, for example, lice or mycosis and it does not take long for most children to be carriers of parasites or have skin problems. Therefore, after your child returns from kindergarten, from time to time carefully inspect his hair, skin and nails.

Lice

Unfortunately, this is not a vague memory from the times of the deep Polish People's Republic. Lice are still a problem.» Portrait of the culprit

Lice can infest anyone's head: it doesn't matter how often the hair is washed or how long it is. They are easily transferred during close contact, using someone else's towel or comb. They make themselves felt quickly, causing persistent itching. The child scratches himself, sometimes injures the skin with his nails, which may result in bacterial infection.

» Method against the enemy

You have to act quickly, because lice spread quickly. It is not necessary to cut the hair for a short time, although it makes it easier to fight uninvited tenants. To get rid of them, you need to buy a lice preparation at a pharmacy (they are over the counter) and use according to the instructions. A special comb is usually attached to the preparation for combing the hair of killed lice.

There is a problem with nits (parasite eggs). They attach to the hair right at the base, especially above the nape of the neck and behind the ears. Since lice preparations do not always work on the eggs, they must be removed or destroyed with your fingernails. In addition, you should do a general cleaning at home: wash bed linen, towels at least 60 degrees Celsius, vacuum the carpets, steam the combs. When lice have attacked a child up to 3 years old or a pregnant woman, the use of a given preparation should be consulted with a doctor, not all of thembecause they are safe.

Important

Louse lives for about 10 days. If there is no relapse after this time, the case can be considered closed. However, it is worth checking the child's head regularly.

Athlete's foot

Likes warm and humid places: showers, swimming pools. In addition, the little ones are eager to exchange towels or shoes.

» Portrait of the culprit

Ringworm begins with itching in the space between the toes. Soon there are small cracks, bubbles or scales, the skin becomes whitish. If the disease is neglected, it affects the entire feet, including the nails, which become grayish-yellow, thicken and crumble.» Method to the enemy

The mycosis will not pass by itself, so it's best to go to a dermatologist right away. Postponing the visit is to your child's disadvantage. Neglected mycosis is more difficult to treat. For the therapy to be effective, the child must wash his feet every day, dry them thoroughly and wear cotton socks.

You must do it

Be wise from harm

The child will not bring "surprises" from kindergarten, if you teach them to:

  1. avoid close contact with a peer who has suspicious changes on his skin
  2. wearing flip-flops for the shower in holiday homes and at the swimming pool
  3. wash their hands after leaving the toilet before eating and after playing in the sand or with animals
  4. food only thoroughly washed fruits and vegetables
  5. covered food and drink to prevent flies from accessing them
  6. did not use other people's towels, combs, clothes, shoes or bedding.

Świerzb

The disease is caused by human mites. Their "relatives" are dust mites, but unlike them, they prefer human skin to the nooks and crannies of the apartment.» Portrait of the culprit

It is transferred by contact, e.g. shaking a hand. You can also catch him by touching the toys, clothes, bedding or towel of the sick person or by using his toilet. The parasite penetrates the epidermis and cuts through corridors that are visible to the naked eye. Scabies mainly occupy the spaces between the fingers, armpits, buttocks and groin. The wandering of the parasite causes itching, which is intensified after being warmed up, e.g. in a bath or in bed.

» Method against the enemy

A visit to the doctor is necessary. Since scabies is very contagious, all household members should get drugs. Bed linen and clothes of a sick person must be washed in 90 degrees Celsius and ironed with a hot iron. Toys and items should be washed or washed in hot water.

Giardioza

This is one of the leading causes of recurring abdominal pain in children. Giardie live in the small intestineeven every fifth child. Infection occurs through the digestive route: by dirty hands, eating unwashed fruit, drinking from a cup where a fly wandered (it carries these parasites), contaminated water, using the same toilet as the sick person.» Portrait culprits

Giardiasis manifests itself (up to 3 weeks after infection) with abdominal pain worsening after eating, diarrhea and light, mushy stools with an unpleasant odor. The child has no appetite, complains of headaches and weakness. Digestive disorders and diarrhea can lead to malnutrition, anemia, and even slowing growth.» Method against the enemy

Faeces must be examined to confirm that you are infected. The whole family should get medication to fight the parasite.

Kurzajki

These "ornaments" of hands or feet are the so-called normal warts. The human papillomavirus is responsible for their formation.» Portrait of the culprit

Kurzajki are hard, grayish lumps with a diameter of a few to several millimeters. On the sole of the feet, they may look like corns. They spread easily to infection, all you need to do is shake your hand. Kurzajki lasts even for years. When scratched, they spread easily.» Method to the enemy

It's best to go to a dermatologist who will help you get rid of warts, e.g. with liquid nitrogen (i.e. by freezing).
