I heard that it is recommended to eat ice cream after trimming the tonsils. Is it true? For what purpose is this done, if this is the case?

The recommendation to eat ice cream after tonsillectomy comes from old medical practice. I suppose that the usefulness of this dietary maneuver is related to the fact that, under the influence of cold food, the blood vessels on the oral mucosa, including the so-called the sites of the removed tonsils are constricted and thus the body is protected against bleeding from the place where the tonsils were removed.
