My mother's head "rumbles" a lot and starts to hear worse and worse. The general practitioner told her to do cholesterol tests, she was above the norm and she was taking medications to reduce the noise. Nothing helps yet. The laryngologist, when she told him about it, asked if his spine was bent. He found it was constricting the spine and gave him drugs that eliminated the noise at least half. From then on, for more than a month, the ENT specialist is not available. We live in a small town, but unfortunately there is only one doctor of this speci alty. My mother (56) does not want to go to her internist because she does not trust him, and neither do I.
The ideal solution is to find a doctor whom Mum and Ms will trust, because trust is an important element of every therapeutic process. As for the speci alties, I suggest looking for an internist experienced in treating cardiovascular problems. It is also worth performing a UGS examination of the carotid arteries. Treatment of tinnitus can be a difficult and lengthy process. The patient should always be examined for ENT causes (the simplest and common cause is earwax in the external ear canal). Often also circulatory causes - increased blood pressure, narrowing of the arteries as a result of elevated cholesterol can lead to tinnitus. Sometimes, despite research, it is not possible to determine the cause of the noise.
