This applies primarily to people with chronic diseases (hypertension, asthma, diabetes), when omitting at least one dose of the drug may have serious consequences - sudden increase in blood pressure, hyperglycemia, dyspnea attack.

Pharmaceutical prescription drugs are not reimbursed

Pharmaceutical prescriptionstays in the pharmacy and is archived for five consecutive years with other prescriptions for full payment, because the drug dispensed in this way is not reimbursed. A pharmaceutical technician does not have such a license.

When can a pharmacy manager refuse to issue a pharmacy prescription?

The pharmacy manager takes full responsibility for the over-the-counter medicine. If it harms the patient for any reason, it may suffer both disciplinary and compensation consequences. Therefore, a pharmaceutical prescription can only be used when the pharmacist knowsname and dose of the drug and is absolutely convinced of the need for its dispensing. The assessment of the situation rests solely with him and in case of doubts he has the right to refuse to exercise this right.

When going to the pharmacy, it is worth taking with you an empty drug packaging or any other evidence of its use (hospital discharge, old prescription, etc.). It is best to go to the pharmacy where the drug was previously purchased. Knowing the patient's PESEL number, the pharmacist can check the history of already used prescriptions and assess the credibility.
