McDonald's changes product composition to Happy Meal. By 2022, the maximum caloric value of a baby kit will be 600 kcal. There will be no artificial colors and preservatives in the products that create it, and less saturated fat, sugar and soda.
As part of the "Family Support Policy," together with Alliance for He althier Generation, McDonald's developed a comprehensive plan for nutritional changes to products that it recommends to child customers. The company committed itself primarily to balancing the meals themselves. What changes should be expected?
At least half of the possible combinations of Happy Meal sets available in McDonald's restaurants, on order kiosk screens, on the website and on the mobile application will contain up to 600 kcal, including 10% kcal from fats and 10 percent. from sugar and 650 mg of sodium. There will be no more artificial colors and flavors in Happy Meal. The amount of preservatives will also be reduced.
You will no longer be able to choose cheeseburgers and chocolate milk for Happy Meal, but only water. The sets will also include a portion smaller than the current size of fries, the so-called kids size.
McDonald's also plans to undertake other marketing efforts to encourage families and children to choose from its range of fruits, vegetables, low-fat, dairy and whole grains, and water.
McDonald's plans to implement all these plans within the next 4 years, i.e. by 2022. The company explains that a large part of its restaurants are families with children, so when designing the changes, it focused on the offer for the youngest.
McDonald's Polska a few years ago joined the promotion of he althy eating and the prevention of overweight and obesity in children. In its promotional material, Happy Meal only shows water, tea and juice to complement the sets. As a second product, the company offers tomatoes and fruit yogurt, instead of a toy, it adds an apple or fruit mousse, and on Happy Meal packaging, paper napkins and e-sales channels, it provides information about the nutritional values of individual products.
